Western women caught shoplifting on CCTV. (Video)

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Four Brits arrested for stealing in Samui released on bail
The four British men arrested for stealing in Koh Samui have been released on bail.
The men, aged between 19 and 27 were arrested at their hotel in Bophut for allegedly stealing from a drone from a toy shop and leaving a resort without settling their bill.

On Wednesday morning the four were released after each paying a bail deposit of 150,000 baht.

At the police station, after being provided with an English translator, the men explained that they had tried to pay for the goods in a local shop with a credit card. After several attempts to use the card machine the men left the shop without the card payment having been accepted. They say they never had any intention of stealing the goods and had more than adequate funds available to pay for their purchases. All charges of leaving a resort without settling the bill have been dropped.

The men now hope the case is processed quickly through the tourist court in Samui and that any accusations of them disrespecting Thai culture are dropped. They have expressed shock at national media who have portrayed them as thieves and criminals when, they say, they were simply involved in a situation was blown out of all proportion over a misunderstanding with regards to a credit card payment and the language barrier when they were arrested.
