Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Surly they can just get their 300 back and spend 100 on a new passport.
US $120 for 10 years
UK £72.50
Australian $277

Will Cambodia transfer a 1 year extension from an old passport to a new one? I had to carry both passports with me before when i had an old passport with my one year extension and my new passport where they stamped me in.

This is will be a huge headache and expense for many...
And the ones whose visas had already expired were probably in on the Great Passport disappearance anyway.
someone with an expired passport /visa, would not be applying for an extension or a visa for another country
A hassle for sure as it would be Losing a passport anywhere.

Just lucky in Cambodia it's not a near fatal disaster.

Obviously still sucks for all victims.

If you're from the USA here are some answers.

I also have a passport card that isn't really good for much in general, but it would help prove my identity at the embassy if I needed to get a new passport.
I also make copies of my passport and visa's.

I've only visited an embassy in a foreign country once. In bangers to get more pages added to my passport. I found them to be helpful
and fairly quick about things.

cheers

Police Recover 49 of 50 Missing Tourist Passports
February 8, 2017

All but one of 50 passports that went missing from a Phnom Penh bus station late last month have been recovered, a representative of a company involved in transporting them said on Tuesday.

Tourists were left in limbo after a box containing the passports, collected from multiple tourism agencies, disappeared from bus company Virak Buntham’s office after being delivered from Sihanoukville, but municipal police have now recovered 49 of them, said Chin Hong, a branch manager of logistics company CPSTA, which arranged for the passports to be transported via a Virak Buntham bus so tourists could extend their visas.

The recovered 49 passports are being held at the VLK Royal Travel office in Phnom Penh.

Mr. Hong said he was not told how police found the passports or why one was still missing...

and seriously, putting them on a bus!
on a virak bus!!!

unbelievable
Yeah, they sure picked the most notorious bus company, known for random thieving and unsafe luggage protection.
Maybe from now on they will use Sorya buses ? Or the Rith Mony express ? :dragonchase:

That said, shouldn't knock Sorya buses; I sent a key in an envelope across country the other week with them, including a change in PP, and it was delivered to the door.
i always use Sorya busses, i have a loyalty card
1 ride away from a free ticket :D

ive taken my motorbike on their busses before no problem, cost $10 i think from PP>SHV
