A man who hacked off his wife’s limbs with a machete after she complained of his alcoholism has been charged with intentional violence, according to police.
Meng Pov, 45, was arrested at his home on Thursday immediately after the incident in Kratie province’s Prek Prasop district.

Police said the suspect hacked Chhay Chanbo, 36, with a machete after he returned home drunk and got into an argument with her.

Ms. Chanbo’s arms were nearly severed at the forearm and she was sent to the Kampong Cham provincial hospital for treatment where doctors had to amputate the lower part of her right arm.

Tut Vinit, the deputy prosecutor at the Kratie provincial court, said the suspect had already been sent to the provincial prison.
“He was charged with intentional violence with aggravating circumstances resulting from maiming under article 223 of the Criminal Code,” he said, adding that Mr. Pov faced four to 10 years in prison.
