Don't forget, Chinese New Year is approaching.
Heads up. Whether you are an expat or a tourist, Chinese New Year will affect you in some way or another. The official date for CNY in Cambodia is 29 January this year, exactly one week from today, so next Sunday. This means that from Friday 27 January there will be an increase in people traveling across Cambodia and it may be difficult to get seats on buses or taxis and you will probably pay a bit more than usual.
My advice for expats is to get the beer in, and for tourists to plan ahead and make sure you have bookings for the CNY week.
Many shops and businesses in Cambodia are owned or run by Chinese-Cambodians, so places like Lucky Lucky travel, Lucky Drink in PP may be closed for the weekend or longer.
Chinese New Year is not an official holiday in Cambodia, but it is one of the few major holidays where shops and businesses will shut down.
Happy holidays and Kung hei fat choi
(Have beer already. )

Having power cuts already in SHV - 3 in the last few hours where I live. Just a heads up, you can get rechargable lamps at the market for $3-5 and candles are 1000r a piece.
What has this got to do with CNY ? Dunno, but there are always more power outages when there are festivities in SHV. Be prepared.

Don't forget about the red little envelopes with money inside you give your staff and youngish relatives.
I heard today about a borey okna who gave to his 1000 strong staff 600$ each

Wow, that would leave ME with less than 600$ if I did that!Barang_doa_slae wrote:Don't forget about the red little envelopes with money inside you give your staff and youngish relatives.
