57 year old American WILLIAM DEXTER WOOLDRIDGE dies of alleged drug Overdose in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

22 December 2016. William Dexter Wooldridge, a 57yo US citizen, was found dead at Europe Guest House,No.51, Street 136, Group 20, Village 13, Phsar Kandal 1 commune, Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh.
He checked in to room 203 on 19 December and paid his bill on the 20th. He was not seen at the reception after this, so on 22 December the staff checked his room. The deceased was found dead in the bathroom, and the condition of the body indicated that he had been dead for some time.
The owner of the guest house and the police were informed.

Results of the examination by forensic officer Dr Sovann Roth indicate that Wooldridge died of a drug induced heart attack due to methamphetamine/opiate use.
The US Embassy has been contacted and the body is being kept at the Russian Hospital morgue.

You get sentenced to three years but then they let you out after 12-18 months, especially in California.

Health and Safety Code 11352 can be violated in several different ways. If you were transporting a controlled substance from one location to another, importing drugs into California, selling drugs, supplying drugs in any way including sales, administering drugs via injection or other method directly to another person, or giving your drugs away, California prosecutors could convict you of violating HS 11352.
