well spotted. They are creative. That is one thing I like about the not so developed world. Not in this particular context though.John Bingham wrote:It's just one of these:OKW wrote:This one actually looks DIY.

Latest from the interrogation of the suspect by Vietnamese police:
Police have reportedly found another 50 videos of child abuse on his telephone. Nguyen said his actions were committed due to the influence of drugs, and that he is now remorseful and has tried to commit suicide twice since the video was leaked.
The Vietnamese police are still undecided on whether to send him back to Cambodia.

The recent decision by Vietnam to execute corrupt bankers has garnered world-wide attention. Rather surprisingly, however, the case has an interesting intersection with export law issues.
As has been reported, the bankers will be subject to rather gruesome execution by firing squad.
Vietnam’s traditional means of execution involves binding perpetrators to a wooden post, stuffing their mouths with lemons and calling in a firing squad.
Death Penalty Worldwide adds another gory detail to death by firing squad in Vietnam: “As the prisoner is dying, an officer fires a pistol shot through the condemned’s ear.”
Apparently even Vietnam is somewhat troubled by all this and wants to transition from this barbaric procedure to lethal injection. But it can’t. According to Patrick Winn on the website Global Post, Vietnam is unable to obtain sodium thiopentol used in executions because the European Union refuses to export the chemical to countries that practice capital punishment.
That of course might make the E.U. feel better about itself, but it won’t stop Vietnam from executing anyone and only assures that prisoners in Vietnam will meet their bloody end with a lemon stuffed in their mouth, multiple bullet wounds, and a final coup de grâce of a bullet in the ear. I’m sure that each person executed in Vietnam will appreciate the European Union’s solicitude for their well-being.http://www.exportlawblog.com/archives/5927

Re: Two Cambodian Men and A Dutch Guy, Stefan Struik Arrested By Police For Involving in Physically Abuse A Boy
While awaiting trial on minor charges of concealing evidence and failing to report the abuse, Stefan Struik has been posting weird ramblings to claim his innocence on facebook.
According to the AFP yesterday, the Vietnamese suspect will be tried in Vietnam. This has yet to be confirmed.
https://www.cambodiadaily.com/news/dutc ... ns-121792/A video of the Dutchman claiming his innocence was reportedly uploaded to the Facebook page of Mr. Struik’s Netherlands-based elven fantasy fair company Elfia, before later being removed. In the video, which was available on the website of Rotterdam daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, Mr. Struik claims he helped Mr. Nguyen go to Vietnam so he could visit the police there and find a woman who may have been linked to the abuse.
“The reason I wanted him to go to the Vietnamese police is because this girl is involved, apparently, and I also had an idea…that she is involved and I find it very important. She’s on the run from the police for another case, just recently, and only the Vietnamese police can find her and connect it to the case,” he says.
“I found it out Monday evening, somebody in Vietnam posted. My big question is who posted it and why? Why it is done? Another question is why Nguyen did this act. It’s something I didn’t see coming at all and I thought I knew him very well,” he says.

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/news/br ... s/30301785On Friday his [Dung's] partner Stefan Struik, a 53-year-old Dutch national who also holds Cambodian citizenship, was charged with failing to report the crime.
"The court charged and jailed him for failing to file a complaint about the mistreatment of the minor and for hiding leads," said Meas Pros, a spokesman for the court in northeastern Mondulkiri province.
Dung will be prosecuted in Vietnam, he added.

This explains the role of the mysterious Vietnamese woman who posted the video and how she came across it. It also makes puts these bizarre facebook comments of Struik's into context :

Videos of a Cambodian toddler being tortured by a Vietnamese man were leaked online by the suspect’s cousin after the suspect and his Dutch boyfriend refused to pay her a bribe to conceal the harrowing footage, police said on Wednesday.
Outrage spread across social media last week after videos of a 2-year-old Cambodian boy being tortured were posted on Facebook. Police quickly identified 34-year-old Nguyen Than Dung as the alleged abuser, and tracked him down in Ho Chi Minh City after he fled Cambodia.
So Sovann, deputy Mondolkiri police chief, who went to Vietnam to assist with investigations, said the videos were leaked by a female cousin of Mr. Nguyen after she unsuccessfully attempted to extort money from him and his 53-year-old boyfriend, Stefan Struik.
The Dutchman was arrested last week and charged on Friday with concealing evidence and failing to report the abuse.
According to Mr. Sovann, the cousin obtained some of the videos after Mr. Nguyen asked her to pawn his phone in Vietnam. After discovering the videos, she sent them to her phone and attempted to blackmail Mr. Nguyen and Mr. Struik for 10 million Vietnamese dong, or about $440.
After the couple refused to pay her, the cousin posted the videos online, Mr. Sovann said...

Re: Two Cambodian Men and A Dutch Guy, Stefan Struik Arrested By Police For Involving in Physically Abuse A Boy
If the CD story is correct, Struik was being blackmailed, so he definitely knew about the crime before helping his partner to flee to Vietnam.
Not sure exactly what the charges against him are, but it seems clear that Struik was aiding and abetting someone that he knew had committed a criminal act.
He can't say that he didn't know, or that he found out later. At the least, if he knew about the blackmail, he knew about the crime.

I have the same understanding as Anchor Moy.
If in addition to that the creepy child torture essays are confirmed he would then start looking to me as a torture movies producer. I can't believe the vietnamese boy toy shot 50 videos for his own fun...
In any case lock these creeps in some vermin filled caves and throw away the keys.

Mr. Struik did know as you say. So far he was blackmailed for 440 dollars remaining on free foot. Turning the whole thing over to the authorities how much one would guess he would have been blackmailed for from then on? Very tough spot to be in. Decisions from then on rely partially on luck. Hopefully time will tell. I have seen cases where the family teamed up, in this case Struiks boyfriend and his trusted cousin to upper their profits.Anchor Moy wrote:If the CD story is correct, Struik was being blackmailed, so he definitely knew about the crime before helping his partner to flee to Vietnam.

"Europeans"should start exporting free electrical supplies to revamp good old sparky, send free bullets, ropes and gas to help out where they can in case the involved countries decide to change methods.Kuroneko wrote:Maybe keep him in Vietnam and give him the death penalty!CEOCambodiaNews wrote:Latest from the interrogation of the suspect by Vietnamese police:

Any soldier lost in a battle is one to many, any inocent man being sent off is one to many. That is the one reason I am against the death penalty.
The soldier in most cases did sign up for it however. No hero stuff, just part of a paying job. The innocent did not.
The US for example could produce their own chemical, there are a few reasons why they don't.
Re: Two Cambodian Men and A Dutch Guy, Stefan Struik Arrested By Police For Involving in Physically Abuse A Boy
out of interest, anyone know why the lemons stuffed into the mouth of those facing the firing squat in Vietnam? That would really leave a sour taste in anyones mouth.
