Chinese Expat Kevin Weng (CTO of Huawei Cambodia & Laos) Crashes BMW i8 into 2 Tuk-Tuks in Phnom Penh

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I do not think that is an i8. No matter. Huawei is a major player here so a few a $K and all is well.
A Chinese CTO is prolly impervious to kryptonite & bullets. As long as no one died then prolly $5K fixes all. Except the Bimmer. Huawei buy you new more better.

As in “Regarding the law, there is no need to imprison him because he was not too drunk,”'. Similar to a most recent Khmer official recent report.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think it's NOT an i8 BMW?

I don't know cars very well, but based on all the media coverage and even old posts from months ago calling this particular car an i8, I'd think saying it's an i8 would be a pretty safe bet, no?

Someone reported that they've seen him driving aggressively in the past.

I thought the only reason to buy an i8 was to drive aggressively.

That's in Rules of the Road for Phnom Penh.

So, CEO was offered $100 to take down this post yesterday.

The person claimed to work with Kevin Weng at Huawei or be his friend or something, and when I asked how much they paid the Khmer media to take down the articles, he said, "we USUALLY don't pay $100, but we offer you this."

He kind or made it sound like contacting media outlets and paying them to remove articles was a common occurrence.

It was a funny conversation. He kept asking to delete it and I kept offering to edit it with more accurate information if anything was wrong, but he just said he wanted it deleted not because it was inaccurate, but because it violated Mr Weng's "privacy."

Unrelated, of course, I just bought a vape thingy. Image

Did you make a counter offer to Kevin Weng (or Huawei's) demand of $100? Five thousand bucks? You could use $5,000.

LoL, I told him $100 isn't a lot of money, and he insisted they don't usually pay that much.

If they can offer us the i8 we might reconsider. I'm sure those Tuk-Tuks came outta nowhere.

Usually? How often are Kevin Weng or other Huawei executives featured in the press for driving drunk and injuring people? Is this a weekly occurrence?

Because it is! There's hundred of registered online 'newspapers' that are run simply to extort and bribe. That's where the revenue comes from.
Lolz...100$, with that you couldn't even get drunk enough at a nice club in PP to crash an i8.

There is no money in the internet, unless you meet and idiot with too much cash on hand, and that's like winning a lottery almost.
