This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! INTERPOL Criminal Clearance Certificate

Post by boozyoldman »

A discussion about Criminal Records Clearance documents led one contributor to
assert that there is such a thing as an INTERPOL Criminal Clearance Certificate.

Is this true? How can one be obtained and how much does it cost?

Obviously, someone in an INTERPOL office (where?) would run someone's
full name, nationality and date-of-birth through a computer and establish that s/he had not
been convicted of XXXXXXX crimes in Albania and Zambia and all stations in between
and then issue a document to that effect.

Does anyone here know anything?

Sounds like a bullshit document sold on Koh San road.

Interpol do not have access to countries criminal databases.

No way the Oz government would give up the info especially under the spent convictions scheme

I would say its bollocks. There are police checks issued by individual countries and that is it.

had it done a few times. Interpol check is required in some countries for various reasons. Once I needed one in Peru for my "Greencard" . Another time in Bolivia for the issuance for a local pilots license. Also Africa sometimes requires it for certain jobs. Done by the local Federal Police, takes a few days normally, and there is no certificate.

btw, there is no direct cost for this check as it is usually required for the issuance of some permit, license, clearance or certificate.
Their database has whats been put into it by them or other participating memberstates.
