Cambodia's Clean City Contest !

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia's Clean City Contest !

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Contest to Rate Clean Cities

The Ministry of Tourism announced a contest this month for the public to rate city services in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville, Kep, Kampot and Kampong Cham.

Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and chairman of the National Committee for Clean City Assessment, said this contest was in preparation for Cambodia to enter the 1st Asean Clean Tourist City Contest and the 2nd Clean City Contest 2018-2021...

Nep Samuth, general secretary of the National Committee for Clean City Assessment, said those using the Scan QR Code can rate public services with just a click on their smartphones, whenever they travel to the cities included in the clean city contest.

But Siem Reap already has its "Clean City" award. For 4 years. (I did not have my wide-angle lens so you can't see the pile of rubbish under the sign).

Battambang has one as well.

If that is the benchmark, then this contest is going to be a really difficult call. Surely, no other city can outdo Battambang for cleanliness.

Thailand has changed amazingly in this regard in 10- 15 years.
I feel very confident Cambodia will as well.

:boxing: I challenge Battambang with Snoul (which doesn't have a Clean City contest, but could use one.)

 Full house. Only thing that could could beat that would be a photo taken outside the Ministry of Tourism responsible for this amazing contest.

Please don't be shy folks, and share your Clean City pics with us before you send them to the Minister.

Seriously I ask. What is it that gives you this rosy optimism? Have you seen changes in that direction? I'm a short timer here & for me it seems worse than 2 yrs. ago. I may be jaded.
IMHO the Khmer as a group could give fuk less. They do not see it. Trash? What trash?

What in your opinion brought about the change to a conservation mind set in Thailand?
