"The Dumbest Generation" & how it affects US political life

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

On one level this is amusing (and who really envies the Poles, Serbs and Irish*, programmed from infancy to remember every triumph and every disaster?) but the ignorance and gullibility of the American public made it easy to convince Joe Six-Pack that the wicked Saddam Hussein was somehow behind 9/11 and made the Iraq adventure an easy sell to the American public.

The wiser Froggies declined to participate, so in the Congressional restaurants 'French fries' became 'Freedom fries' just as
Sauerkraut had once - in 1917 - been transformed into 'Liberty cabbage.'

*On a train travelling from Dublin to Sligo at dusk, the lights of a town were seen in the distance.

Q: "What place is that?"

A: "Clontarf. Where Brian Boru beat the Danes in 1014."

"A: "Clontarf Where Brian Boru beat the Danes in 1014."

Until this very morning I had never heard of Brian Boru nor could I ever have found Clontarf on a map. Until this morning I lived under the delusion that I had led a full and meaningful life. Thank you for revealing my shallow life.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.
