Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

1 Brit, 2 US arrested; woman's body found in fridge.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

A British man has been arrested in Thailand after police raided an alleged drugs and fake passport gang and found a woman’s dismembered body in a freezer.

The 63-year-old was detained after a shootout in the capital Bangkok which left one officer in a “serious but stable” condition.

Four others were also arrested including two Americans and two Burmese nationals, MGR online reports.

Police said they found drugs and a passport-making machine in the five-storey building as well as several pistols.

In the basement, the remains of a blonde woman’s body were found chopped up in a two-metre by two-metre fridge.

The five pieces were wrapped in black, plastic bags.

The victim was still wearing clothes and shoes.

Her identity and nationality and cause of death are unknown and investigations continue.

Police have so far been unable to verify the identities of the foreign nationals detained as they found a number of passports bearing different names and nationalities.

General Somprasong Yentuam said: “Officers were not expecting a body and were shocked to find it in the fridge.”

Were they planning to eat selected tit-bits of her later, like Sagawa Issei and the Belgian babe in Paris?

Or perhaps to serve her in kebabs like Charlene Downes in Blackpool?

A raid on an alleged fake-passport operation in Bangkok on Friday resulted in five arrests and an additional surprise when officers discovered the dismembered body of a man in a freezer.

Officers arrested a Briton, two Americans and two Myanmar nationals during an operation in which shots were fired and a policeman was wounded.

The raid took place at a five-storey, six-unit shophouse at 18/1 Sukhumvit Soi 56 in Phra Khanong district, where detectives said passport forgery and illicit drug trading were taking place.

As the search began, a suspect told police that the fake passports were in a safe. As the suspect opened the safe he reached inside for a 9mm pistol and fired three shots at Pol Sgt Maj Kanjanapong Chedej, a plainclothes tourist policeman.

He sustained wounds to the torso and was treated at Police General Hospital, said Pol Maj Gen Somprasong Yenthuam, commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 5.

After the gunman and the other suspects were arrested, the search resumed and officers found six pistols, methamphetamine, marijuana, passports, a printer and chemicals. They also found passports featuring the suspects' pictures with different names.

A further search revealed a locked two-metre-high freezer on the ground floor of the shophouse. When officers opened it they found a male body wrapped in black plastic sheets. The body had been cut into six pieces...

Totally weird. Sounds like the body had been there for some time...
Colonel Kissana Phathanacharoe, of the Thai police, said: “We managed to find a big freezer. We opened it and found a dead body inside it. The body was chopped into different parts. It was concealed in many rubbish bags and put in the freezer.”

Kissana said the three men were charged with offences including concealment of a body, obstruction of justice, possession of fraudulent passports and possession of drugs including ketamine and crystal meth.

A Burmese couple also arrested on Friday told police they had been hired to clean the four-storey building three times a week and ordered not to open or move the freezer where the body was found. The couple have not been been charged and are being treated as witnesses.

Forensic officers are working to identify the body and expect to have autopsy results on Sunday. Police suspect the men were part of a passport forgery gang. No court date has been set...
