'Cambodia's Second Kingdom' - new book on politics.

Have questions or resources regarding Khmer Culture? This forum is all about the Kingdom of Cambodia's culture. Khmer language, Cambodian weddings, French influence, Cambodian architecture, Cambodian politics, Khmer customs, etc? This is the place. Living in Cambodia can cause you to experience a whole new level of culture shock, so feel free to talk about all things related to the Khmer people, and their traditions. And if you want something in Khmer script translated into English, you will probably find what you need.

'Cambodia's Second Kingdom' - new book on politics.

Post by Anchor Moy »

There is a new book out on Cambodian politics: Cambodia's Second Kingdom by Astrid Noren-Nilsson. Anyone read it ? There was an article in the CD a couple of weeks back (which I've only just read.)

Ms. Noren-Nilsson has spent nearly 15 years researching politics and politicians in Cambodia and recently completed her doctorate at the University of Cambridge, England. She turned her thesis into the book, which was released in the U.S. in July by Cornell University’s Southeast Asia Program Publications.

As respected U.S. historian David Chandler notes in the foreword of “Cambodia’s Second Kingdom,” the book was written by an author who, in contrast to many of her contemporaries, spent a significant amount of time listening to the political players whose actions and policies she has analyzed—including an interview with Mr. HE.
