This is a huge sum, considering how many threadbare Aussie backpackers pass through Cambodia and who would jump at the
offer of a far smaller amount of money.
We hope this silly woman has got her money back.

Re: $30,000 for fraudulent arranged Australia marriage.
The president of an NGO and his wife were charged by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday in connection with cheating nearly $40,000 from two women who were trying to go and work in Australia and South Korea in 2013 and 2015, according to a municipal penal police officer.
Lieutenant Colonel Chiv Vibol, deputy chief of the municipal minor crimes police unit, said the suspects were 30-year-old Thoeun Samnang, president of Our Friends Organization – which supported orphans and vulnerable children in Cambodia – and his 26-year-old wife Sok Sakthida, the organization’s director of finance and administration...
According to court documents, which were obtained by Khmer Times yesterday, in the most recent case, the couple received $30,000 in June 2015 from a 25-year-old Cambodian woman to bring her to live and work legally in Australia through a fake marriage to a Cambodian-Australian citizen.
In the older case, in August 2013, the couple received $7,000 from a woman named Srun Vanny to bring her to stay and work legally in South Korea, but they did not send her as promised. When the victim demanded her money back, they escaped...

It's actually quite cheap. You get what you pay for. Standard is 50k these days.mammothboy2 wrote:This is a huge sum, considering how many threadbare Aussie backpackers pass through Cambodia and who would jump at the

Re: $30,000 for fraudulent arranged Australia marriage.
FYO: Even if you pay 30-50k for an arranged marriage you may be refused residency, and you may face criminal charges once in Australia. This is an Australian federal government announcement from last year, so fair warning to those who are trying to get into Australia through a fake marriage to an Australian citizen:
Australian Federal Government announces crackdown on fake ‘couples’
Published: 23/05/2015
From June 2015, the Australian Federal government will be using new checking systems to target couples who enter into fake marriages in order to get Australian partner and spouse visas and subsequently live apart and claim two lots of welfare payments. The government has estimated that, even with costs taken into account, these new safeguards will save A$132.7 million a year. When the fake couples are found out by this cross-checking, not only will benefits cease immediately, the non-Australian citizen in the partnership will lose their status, be required to pay back all fraudulently obtained monies and will face criminal charges.

I would do it for 20K, but it would have to appear to be kosher. Perhaps at least 6 moths co habitation with full conjugal rights. I have a mate that did it years ago, was promised 10K. It never went ahead and he got 3.5K and went straight to the casino and spent it. What a way to get stood up!
Anyway the woman is still in town so probably married someone else.
