World's best airline awards 2015
The skytrax awards: which airlines would you vote for?
It seems a bit early in the year to be announcing the results for 2015, but what the hell.
Mention for Air Asia as best low-cost.
World's Most Improved Airlines
1 Air France
2 Azerbaijan Airlines
3 Delta Air Lines
4 Aeroflot
5 China Airlines
6 Japan Airlines
7 Norwegian
8 Royal Air Maroc
9 China Eastern
10 Vietnam Airlines

I've flown Vietnam a few times and have no complaints, but I thought that China and China Eastern were considered terrible and I've avoided flying with both. So, how improved is vastly improved ?
No complaints about Air France either, even before they improved: good food and champagne in economy. What's not to like ?

I tried Air France, but no more in Cambodia now.
AirAsia World's best low-cost. Dose it mean it is the cheapest?

It means that it's been voted as the best of the cheap airlines.prahkeitouj wrote:I tried Air France, but no more in Cambodia now.

Definition of low-cost airline:THE AWARD DETAILS
The Award for the world's Best Low-Cost Airline represents the global ratings achieved by all low-cost carriers. As a Quality distinction, the award is based upon customer satisfaction assessment of product and staff service standards supplied by the airline in both the cabin and airport environments. AirAsia is named the World's Best Low-Cost airline for the 7th consecutive year, with Norwegian named the world's Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airline and Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-cost_carrierA low-cost carrier or low-cost airline (also known as a no-frills, discount or budget carrier or airline, or LCC) is an airline that generally has lower fares and fewer comforts. To make up for revenue lost in decreased ticket prices, the airline may charge for extras like food, priority boarding, seat allocating, and baggage etc.

Re: World's best airline awards 2015
No problem voting for Qatar and Air Asia. Qatar's been my regular LHR-BKK the last few times and I thought the overall comfort, service and price was excellent so not surprised they came out top. Not a fan of the new Doha terminal, for nostalgia's stake Schipol's my favourite for the sausage rolls Use Air Asia for BKK-PNH and they've always been on time which is all I want on a short haul really.
A bit surprised to see Garuda on the list.

I second Qatar, great airline and (relatively) cheap to boot.

I always fly Bangkok Airways PHN-BKK-PHN. Can't beat free food/coffee/lounge at both airports, and an inflight meal with drinks in 55min. And they land at the big boys airport that has good connections. I did fly AirAsia X business KL-Syd-KL and loved the layflat bed, but the AirAsia airport at KL is something to avoid.

Re: World's best airline awards 2015
I'd rank Vietnam Airlines over Qantas any day. Frankly I'm sick of Qantas screeching that it's the national carrier of Australia/claiming to NOT be the national carrier of Australia depending on the circumstance.

Re: World's best airline awards 2015
I used to be a big miles whore (churning credit cards, mileage runs etc) and I've flown most of the Asian carriers on the list and off (+Qantas & Air NZ) in 1st and the rest of 'em in Biz. I'm surprised not to see Asiana in the top 10. If you're sitting up front they're as good as anybody. Great hub too. I'll take ICN over HKG or SIN any day. Air NZ seems like an obvious omission too. Eva is great in Biz now as well. Same seats as Cathay, they serve you Dom, and the lounges in TPE rock now. The food on the plane isn't as good as the rest though. BKK Air is maybe the best Regional Carrier I've flown, but I can''t make myself pay 2 or 3 X Air Asia's price for a 1 hr flights. I only fly 'em if I can't book a few weeks in advance. The price differential close in is negligible. Cathay's lounges at HKG are by far the best I've been to with Thai's 1st Class at BKK a close 2nd. Qantas has the best One World Lounge at BKK. Shits all over Cathay's surprisingly.
