Re: Where Should I Go?
I think Sri Lanka beach is very beautiful. And many places to visit there such Sigiriya Rock, Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of Buddha Tooth and many beautiful parks ... especially people there look so friendly and have great smile , but the food is awful.

That seems like an obvious choice unless you are considering selling you CEO shares or planning a longer visit soon afterward

Yeah, that's the closest. I really need to get that out of the way.StroppyChops wrote:Egypt.
Hahaha! ! ! ! I think I've visited Cambodia before! At least to the capital city, Siem Reap, and saw all the old stone castles.Duncan wrote:I don't know about those places, but I can recommend Cambodia. I know you haven't been there for a while. '
Yeah, the unfortunate part is that it costs about $1,200 and takes at least 16 hours from here. I also wanted to use these breaks to go random places I probably won't make the effort to see again years down the road.
Cool. Croatia used to be high on my list many, many years ago, but I've forgotten why.Schrodinger's Dog wrote:Croatia: If you go down the south (Zadar, Dubrovnik area) you'll most likely catch some nice weather, tho most likely it's not getting warmer than around 15°C. Sunshine should be fine.General Mackevili wrote:Ok, so I have a 9-day break coming up soon and I can't decide where I should go.
I've been looking at places with cheap and direct flights from here. All the flights seem to be about $600 return, except Egypt, which is about $300. Prices are going up though by the day it seems...
I've somewhat got it narrowed down to the following places. Any thoughts on these places are welcome and appreciated:
Egypt (Sounds like a boring place, but I gotta see them pyramids, and fancy 5-star hotels are about $60 a night right now!)
Sri Lanka (Don't know where I should go there, but sounds fun enough.)
Greece (I'd almost rather wait until I could work out some sailing there, and someone said the weather ain't great right now either.)
Cyprus (Know nothing about the place.)
Croata (Hmmm....)
France (That could be fun! I've never been to France before. Hopefully it's not freezing there right now?)
Kenya (Again, I know nothing about this place.)
Nepal (Could be fun.)
France: North and North East are rather cold this time of the year, down in the South it's nicer. Sunshine and around 20°C
Wow, really good breakdown!phuketrichard wrote:Been to the ones i commented on.
I love Nepal but many find it dirty and too muchGeneral Mackevili wrote:Ok, so I have a 9-day break coming up soon and I can't decide where I should go.

not boring at all, Great place, lots to see and do but it stinks like an open piss hole
visit the museum, pyramids an the night light show ( sit in the graveyard to watch it
take the boat down river to Luxor and visit the old city of Thebes on the back of a camel or Donkey
Sri Lanka (Don't know where I should go there, but sounds fun enough.)
great place visit capital Colombo and the beaches at Hikadewa an than go up to Kandy in the hills
Greece (I'd almost rather wait until I could work out some sailing there, and someone said the weather ain't great right now either.)
love Greece, just hanging out in the city is great but 8 days might be too much, hop a boat for a few days to an islands
Cyprus (Know nothing about the place.) No idea
Croata (Hmmm....) No idea
France (That could be fun! I've never been to France before. Hopefully it's not freezing there right now?)
Fantastic place, great food an the people are friendlier than those u meet outside the country,
Paris ( 4 days to see it all) ,train down to Orleans, Lyon, , or over to Strasbourg BUT it is NOT cheap, was there in 2009 and we tried to get by on $300/day for myself an daughter
Kenya (Again, I know nothing about this place.)
ONLY if your going to take a safari out of Narobi and then visit mt Kenya, its a great mtn, seeing the animals in their own environment is a great experience, Great bars and girls in Narobi as well LOL
A safari will cost ya $$$
Nepal (Could be fun.)
YES but 9 days is not enough to do any serious trekking although April is a great month but than u only have time for Kathmandu and the bus down to Pohkara, maybe u could fit in a small 4-5 day trek out of KTM to Gosainkund lake
Happy trails
Trekking? Fuck, we can knock that off the list right now.
Sri Lanka is always a place I've wanted to go. I'll keep that on the list.
Jeez, at least I'd save money because I'd only need a one-way ticket.thePeck wrote:I'd go to Iraq.
I got a friend/co-worker who's going there to join pay (only $200 for the weapon) to work with a private security group to kill some ISIS. Sounds like fun!
Jordan sounds cool! Haven't been, but it's on my back burner list.Secret Squirrel wrote:Not on your list but what about Jordan. Not too far away. Quite compact so you can get around a few places in your limited time. Petra and Jerash are well worth the trip. Beaches at Dead Sea and Aqaba.
But maybe you have been already?
I think it's looking like Egypt.potty wrote:EGYPT !
but 9 days cairo would be pain in the ass...
see pyramids and don't miss the cairo museum, then move on to Sinai (dahab), climb mount Sinai at night, and if you like, make a 2 day trip to
(a) Jerusalem (they will stamp a paper, not your passport) or
(b) Jordan, see petra.
lucky you...
And about Israel.... I obviously have a Saudi visa in my passport right now. Will Israel care about that?
Ha! I feel terrible about saying this, but a part of me wants to get as far away from the Middle fucking East as I possibly can for the week! My tolerance for seeing nothing but dudes in white dresses running around between the 6 prayers every day is wearing thin!Soi Dog wrote:Egypt is my least favorite place on the planet.
African safari would be more my style, if I could afford a decent one.
LoL, tempting....NOT.Secret Squirrel wrote:If you go to the right area free firework shows are provided each night by the USAF.thePeck wrote:I'd go to Iraq.

I should be back around May. There are summer classes here that will be available, but it already looks like we're overstaffed and some teachers won't get them. Most people are fighting over them already, and I'm the only one that has no desire to do them. Already got a ticket back to the States that I'll probably use first before heading back to the Bodge and do Temple Town and Snooky (calm down everyone, NO, I don't really use those terms).
OK, so it looks like I'll go ahead and book a ticket to Egypt this time around. The possibility of being kidnapped by ISIS seems like a reasonably fair trade-off for the place being so ridiculously cheap right now.
Also, a student was telling me he goes to a place on the coast there sometimes calling Something-Shek (I'll have to Google it) that he likes much better. He sounds rich though and goes to clubs that charge damn near $100 entrance fees.
Any idea about this area?
And any recommendations about specific things in Cairo/Egypt would be great!
I guess I wouldn't cry if I had to pay up to $80 a night for a hotel, but it really seems like they have legit 5-star hotels for about $60 because NOBODY is going to Egypt right now. Most the ones I glanced at looked to be a little bit on the outskirts and some overlooked the pyramids quite nicely.

Re: Where Should I Go?
Personal experience from 2013 (so don't know if there have been any chances or whatever) was:General Mackevili wrote: And about Israel.... I obviously have a Saudi visa in my passport right now. Will Israel care about that?
I've been to Turkey once in 2011 and told them to put the (visa/immigration) stamp onto a external page therefore it doesn't appear in my actual passport. Been to Israel for a few days with my back then gf (both German citizens) in 2013 and had no problems with the immigration on the airport because of this. My gf was in Egypt a few months before our trip to Israel and was asked to follow the immigration officer into a seperated area because of her stamp from Turkey - which was put into her passport and not onto a seperat (external) page. They asked her a few questions, took probably about 20 minutes and she came back and received her stamp from the Israelis without further problems.
I just wrote a email to a friend of mine, he used to work at the Tel Aviv airport since November last year and could probably know about it. Will let you know about possible news regarding this matter as soon as I receive his answer.
Re: Where Should I Go?
im 99.999% sure, that Israel will have zero problem with your Saudi stamp.
but you may also ask when leaving sinai to Israel to have the Egypt-exit-(reentry-)stamp on a separate paper.
why you are travelling with only one passport, when you are working in Saudi arabia..?
the top abroad holiday destinations of Israelis are btw Sinai and turkey.

One passport? I'll just photocopy this one!
I don't see any issue with being here and only having one passport. Am I missing something (other than a second passport, LoL)?

You must be talking about Sharm El sheikh.
Touristic destination on the Red Sea where Israelis go holidaying.
Best known for its plane crashes and terror attacks, I would pay not to be sent there
