Where to go for pleasant road trip in Sihanoukville
Re: Where to go for pleasant road trip in Sihanoukville
Sorry, it must be the cultural difference. I come from a country where you have to prove someone is guilty, not where you have to prove you're innocent.Sailorman wrote:No one has come forth to show that the proper permits were granted to build this structure. Like the beach shacks in Snookyville, it was just probably built with no approval. The Chinese do have a concession in the park, but even with the pay off of the body guard unit, the Cambodia laws still take precedence. I would believe that the same 50 meter rule that governs the Snookyville beach shacks would also govern the building of structures in a National Park that is suppose to be owned by the people of Cambodia and not corrupt companies/developers backed by the government of China
Duncan: Show me the permits and impact report you base your argument on. BTW/ the beach shacks that the government is going to rip out in Snooky are built of wood, so in your way of thinking these shacks are made of wood so non-permanent? You believe that and I've got a wonderful bridge here in Snookyville to sell you. (or a real deal on some beach shacks.)
BTW did it ever come to your mind that this walkway could be made by the national park to protect the corals around the island?

Duncan: Checks in the mail. It used to be in my country that you were innocent until proven guilty, but no more.
No one has shown me any proof that the walkway is legal. All I see is laws saying it is not. Show me some proof.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Following on from the topic of illegal development along the coast around Preah Sihanouk:
In response to a report that has found that land-grabbing is destroying coastal wetlands and mangroves, the Ministry of Land Management has been asked to crackdown on illegal developments.
In response to a report that has found that land-grabbing is destroying coastal wetlands and mangroves, the Ministry of Land Management has been asked to crackdown on illegal developments.
The report found that the Kingdom’s coastal mangrove swamps were being filled in and titles were being illicitly issued for the newly formed land in Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Kampot and Kong Kong provinces.
“Our ministry asked for intervention over the anarchic grabbing of mangroves happening in the coastal provinces,” Agriculture Ministry spokesman Lor Raksmey said yesterday.

When its government sanctioned land grabs by the likes of mega-Chinese companies like the take over and rape of Ream Park, nothing will be done.
