Doesn't hold a candle to Beer laos , Myanmar beer, Tecate, dos equis & Asahi and i am sure many many more
i'd say its tied with Heineken BUT above Thai beers

I've been all over SE Asia (except Myanmar) and chose to retire in Vietnam... specifically Vung Tau.

While quite scenic and pleasant, it's also mind-numbingly boring. It's like a chance to experience death without actually passing away...

"value/quality" for money, i'd probs have to say Thailand...
i guess a big factor is the local knowledge of the areas in which you stay, most of the places i go in Thailand/Cambodia ive been going to for years and even lived, so i know the best places to go for the best value/quality for the best prices,
for years Cambodias' value for money was much better compared to Thailand, but now i don't think it is, prices have crept up in the main cities, that of which is on par with Thailand, but does the quality match too? Not really, the quality is just the same as before...

Asahi used to be the cheapest beer you could get by the case in Cambodia. Fuck them for re-inventing it, pretty much nobody buys it now.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 3:04 pmnever liked Beer Laos, never understood the massive love for it tbhphuketrichard wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 8:09 amJamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 8:32 pmCambodia is the best beer, i prefer Angkor over Anchor, but hangovers are nasty on Angkor (bad guts) and Anchor is too smooth gets horrible after a while

PS - No revolution yet in Thailand I'm afraid Sigmoid, you and Hotdigr should get together for the quality of your local/regional predictions.

No doubt that vietnam offers the best for $. Cheap rooms awesome dorms, cheap beer, amazing cheap scenery tours, cheap motorbike rent. Friendly locals.
Thailand is just easy but only cheap on long term rentals and diy transport.
Cambodia and the rest are cheap but there are less cheap room deals of comparable quality, for example comparing to Vietnam. The list goes on.

Remembering back to the days when there was 40 bt to the usa dollar and 5 years + ago when $1 Australian got closer to $1 usa,,, it was cheap to live in Cambodia.
Now, with Cambodia using the usa dollar, some imports should be cheap,, but they are not. For tourists coming from some countries and having to convert their currency to usa $, makes Cambodia a expensive holiday destination. After excluding China, I can see somewhere in the future there could be a big drop of tourists from Europe where they could get better value for their money closer to home and not have to travel so far.
Wont make much difference to people like Jamie, as he ain't a tourist.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
