So, where in SE Asia do u get the best "value" for ur $$

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Too many old cashed up and lookijg for younger girls in SEA.

They turn the place into returemtent homes and ruin the vibe.

SEA is also not for young blokes, too much alcohol / no work.

Only thing to do is spend money and drink alcohol.

The weatern mentality where money buys love is alive and tru, it also can buy a wife , friends , businesses that fail and if your not careful a isaan missus who takes you to the cleaner.

At the en of the day the people are friendly because there is personal gain.

If you dont believe /understand that then you are
naive .

I dont care how long you been living in SEA .....

Money will always be number 1

And in my village not a few I know are happy just to have survived the Pol Pot regime. It is true(IMO)that money is overly important, just as it was to people of my parent's generation who lived through the Great Depression.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

A certain level of money is needed for comfort, but money (or the lack of it) can be the root of all evil. In addition to money, another big part of happiness is love. Getting love and giving love. People with spouses live longer, people with pets live longer.

Living in a paradise location doesn’t hurt, either.

The big plus is english is widely spoken. I've visited many times but haven't lived there. I heard Manila can be expensive in desirable places like Makati and of course traffic jams and crowded but if you get out from there and out to the provinces it is much cheaper. Many options as to where to live amongst the islands.

OTOH weather sucks..being surrounded by seas, they get a lot of rain, typhoons..then there are earthquakes and even volcanos/tsunamis.. Lots of brown outs..

Phnom Penh is comparatively an oasis in this regard.

Food sucks too.. As well as manila airport given there are no land borders.
i've been lived in philippines for 2 years my experience people's there spoken english very well and friendly but still we should be careful with the girl's ( if only you meet in night lifel) not all the girls bad or people's there bad too some of them really kind and will do everything for friends and treat you as their family.. i was stay in makati city yeah theres traffic everywhere especially on friday night and flood everywhere after heavy rain. alcohol cheap there if you buy local beer like red horse beer in small market or supermarket You can buy a box of beer in cans for 11 dollars or around ( 500 pesos ) but if you go to night club or bar for one bottle of beer san mig light they can cost you 120 pesos or around 2.3 dollars.
For food if you down with food street more cheaper but i don't really recommend it not all the food street is clean cause theres Innards,Viscera,Offal of chicken they recycle like they make it crispy fried. and maybe because of my tounge like salty food don't really accept local food mostly the local food taste sweet and sourly. i used to cook , buy jolibee ( local fastfood my favorite) or korean bbq. Korean bbq there in everywhere and cheaper.
and the transportations there for me isn't expensive like the local transportation (jeepne) you can pay only for 0.14 dollars ( 7 pesos ) for one ride or take a bus for short ride around city close by only 0.22 dollars ( 12 pesos ). You can take grab car to and not expensive like minimal price for one ride 1 dollar ( 50 pesos) but dont take grab on busy time (5pm - 11 pm) grab car can cost you 2-5 times from orginally price
the most expensive for me is place to stay especially in makati or BGC area ( district office) cause this place where the expat work most . actually we can stay outside from the town but isn't not good idea for me far from the town traffic very worst. actually all is depends of where you work and what you wanna do in the philippines . me come to philippines as expat because of work so i located with both others expat come for work.

but i'm kinda misses philppines i had a lot fun, i had good time there and party a lot sorry i'm typical workhard and partyhard lol . a lot of cheap bar , nightclub with nice music ( time club one of my favorite because they play trance, techno and underground music ) lol , friends i had ( expat friends & local friends ) they were really good friend. unfortunate when i was in philippines i just stuck in the city i was no time for see some beaches or mountain ( work time busy as hell ) for sure if i come back there wanted to go palawan isalnd as boracay closed by president.

I thought us condo dwellers had shorter lifespans due to the balcony effect, now I know it's because we're not allowed pets.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

Lots of Beer Lao in Cambodia, $1 or less, never seen Myanmar beer (which I love). Strange, but I like Cambodia beer better than Angkor. $2 for a Beer Lao in Lao is damned pricey.

Cambodia is the best beer, i prefer Angkor over Anchor, but hangovers are nasty on Angkor (bad guts) and Anchor is too smooth gets horrible after a while

Female pet birdies don’t last long. Their owners, even less so. Almost became a death by birdie statistic.
