Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

This sort of stuff happens literally all the time. As in every day. I've helped illegal loggers who were blocking the trail push their hauls up hills (via both tractor and buffalo), been towed out of jungles, fixed a dude's drowned bike at a river crossing in Koh Kong and so on. I've been brought back to PP numerous times via waving down locals after serious mechanical failures. Cambodia is one of the best places in the world where it's almost impossible to "get in trouble", as there's always a village or people fairly close by, and people are friendly and willing to help. Even in most Western countries, the unwritten rule for motorcycliss is to always stop of you see another biker on the side of the road (gas/etc). So it's not really unique.

Sorry, I think I've got Debbie Downer mental issues or something. Or maybe I'm turning into an old angry man way prematurely. I just find it a non-event. Man runs out of gas, people give him gas. Ok?
I totally agree, but the trick is to have someone follow you around with a camera and fully document the event, and then it can become a story. As they say, "Photos, or it didn't happen."

You should consider hiring someone like this gentlemen has obviously done, Then, when you help someone or someone helps you, even if it's totally staged using crisis actors, you too may become an over-nite internet sensation.

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

To be honest, I once ran out of gas on that stretch too. Between Kaoh Nheaek and Lumphat it's deserted. Nice ride though.
Luckily I ran out about 3 km from the Lumphat bridge. Still a tough walk pushing the bike at noon.

Proper bikes have a reserve tank.
No doubt it was a inferior Honda. Yo.
Don’t listen to Chinese whispers.

I have had a few good luck tales, 2 blowouts, the first of a car I had just bought in Battambang and was on the main road to Seim Reap, I could not get off the last wheelnut and was in the middle of nowhere in the heat of the afternoon sun, a young couple stopped on their moto to help, could not manage too, but they went to find a machinic, returning half hour latter with him, job done.
Then this one sometime back, over the hills to Koh Kong when the road was bad, ending up leaving the bike at a shop, and flagging down a car. problem was how to get the bike, but the lady of the shop had it deliverd to the cities market for me.

Always "hope" but never "expect".
