MANILA -- Metropolitan Manila will go into lockdown on Sunday to contain the spreading coronavirus outbreak in the country, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Thursday.

Land transport as well as domestic sea and air travel to and from Metro Manila will be suspended through April 14, the president said, adding that the situation will be reviewed daily.

Metro Manila, home to around 13 million people, is the Philippine commercial capital and generates over one-third of the country's gross domestic product. It was not immediately clear how the travel suspension would be enforced, as thousands of workers from nearby provinces travel to the capital for work daily. The president encouraged flexible work arrangements for the private sector.

Duterte ordered a "community quarantine" in Metro Manila, as well as similar quarantine measures in areas outside the capital with at least two cases of COVID-19. Suspension of school classes in Metro Manila is also extended until April 12 while mass gatherings are prohibited, the president said.

"They are afraid to call it a lockdown, but it is a lockdown," Duterte said in a televised address from Malanacang Palace. "It is a matter of protecting and defending you from COVID-19."

The drastic measures come as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the Philippines climbed to 52 on Thursday, up from five on March 6. Three more patients died Thursday, bringing the number of fatalities to five.

ATTENTION: TOURISTS AND TRAVELERS IN THE PHILIPPINES
If you are a tourist currently staying in Manila, you have 24 hours to leave before the lockdown on 15 March. If you are planning to arrive in Manila after 14 March 2020, you will be placed in mandatory quarantine for 14 days.
At the present time, according to the official statement, the lockdown is from 15 March- 14 April 2020 inclusive, but this may change at any time without prior notice.

Cambodia announced it would refuse entry to citizens from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the United States, according to local media.
Vietnam will also stop issuing tourist visas to citizens from Europe’s Schengen area and Britain, starting from Sunday.

Info for travellers on Covid-19 in Vietnam

Since the start of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Vietnam has closely monitored the situation and installed a series of proactive, comprehensive measures to combat the spread of the virus within the country and prepare its public health facilities. Past experience with other epidemics places Vietnam in a strong position to protect its population as well as visitors passing through.

The first confirmed cases of COVID-19 appeared in Vietnam on Jan. 23, 2020. Of the confirmed cases that have appeared in Vietnam to date, 26 are Vietnamese, and the rest are foreigners.

Confirmed cases were located and quarantined in the northern province of Vinh Phuc (11), in Ho Chi Minh City (5), Hanoi (4), Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa province (1), Quang Ninh Province (4), Quang Nam Province (2), Binh Thuan (9) Lao Cai (2), Da Nang (3), Hue (1) and Thanh Hoa (1).

Valid from noon on March 15 for 30 days after:

1) Travellers from the 26 Schengen countries and the UK, or those who have visited or transited through these countries in the past 14 days, will not be issued visas or allowed entry into Vietnam. This also applies to those who currently hold visas or visa letters.

2) Vietnam has suspended visas on arrival for all foreign nationals. This applies to all new applicants, except those travelling for diplomatic or official purposes. Those who currently hold visas to enter Vietnam will need to undergo medical checks and may be quarantined before being allowed to enter the country.

Countries with more than 500 confirmed cases of COVID-19, or more than 50 new cases per day, can also expect to have visa exemptions to Vietnam suspended at this time. Vietnam may refuse to grant visas to travellers showing symptoms of COVID-19.

Until now they have resolutely stuck to their usual floor prices and just slashed the number of flights.
and two weeks self-isolation ain't so bad if you dislike most of the human species anyway.

American Airlines Suspends All Remaining Flights to Asia; Will Reduce Int. Capacity by 75%
American Airlines today starts a phased suspension of additional long-haul international flights from the U.S..
The airline will reduce international capacity by 75% year-on-year from 16 March and until 6 May 2020, at the earliest.

American Airlines will:

- Continue to operate one flight daily from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to London (LHR), one flight daily from Miami (MIA) to LHR and three flights per week from DFW to Tokyo (NRT); and

- Continue short-haul international flying, which includes flights to Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and certain markets in the northern part of South America, as scheduled.

In addition to the international changes, the airline anticipates its domestic capacity in April will be reduced by 20% compared to last year and May’s domestic capacity will be reduced by 30% on a year-on-year basis.

International Route Changes - Asia

- Effective 16 March, American will suspend all remaining flights to Asia, except for three flights per week from DFW to NRT
Australia and New Zealand;

- Suspending service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Auckland (AKL) effective March 16, which was slated to end seasonal flying on 28 March;

- Suspending service from LAX to Sydney (SYD) effective 16 March

Cambodia Land Border With Laos is Closed
The Trapaing Kreal border crossing is not mentioned by name in the link below, but it states that Laos has closed a number of smaler land border crossings, including to Cambodia. There is only one border checkpoint between the two countries, and it is situated in the north of Cambodia in Stung Treng province.
The overland border between Laos and Cambodia should therefore be considered closed, unless there is official information to the contrary.
The border crossings between Laos and Thailand remain open for the moment.
