Passengers arrive in Cambodia as more countries resume flights.

June 4, 2020
More than 1,800 passengers arrive on eight international flights
Eight International flights carrying about 1,880 passengers landed in the Kingdom late last night.

Cambodia Air communications and public relations director Khek Norinda said earlier yesterday four flights would land in Phnom Penh and one in Sihanoukville.

“These flight operations have been maintained despite the COVID-19 situation, so it is not a restart of activities at the airports,” he said. “We are expecting around 1,800 passengers.”

“We don’t have the figures about three other international flights [from Seoul, Manila and Beijing] which will land later tonight,” he added.
Mr Khek stressed that the number of passengers arriving on Wednesday is in reality a 93 percent drop compared to the same day last year.

Emirates, Etihad to resume transit flights

Reuters
June 4, 2020

Emirates and Etihad Airways will resume some transit flights after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) lifted a suspension on services where passengers stop off in the country to change planes, or for refuelling.

Dubai's Emirates, one of the world's biggest long-haul airlines, said on Thursday it would operate transit flights to 29 destinations in Asia, Europe and North America by June 15.

Abu Dhabi's Etihad, meanwhile, said it would carry transit passengers to 20 cities in Europe, Asia and Australia from June 10.

China adjusts plans for int'l inbound passenger flights
Source: Xinhua| 2020-06-04 23:09:33

BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- China's civil aviation regulator on Thursday adjusted policies for international passenger flights, allowing more foreign carriers to resume flights to China on a once-a-week basis starting from June 8.

Foreign airlines that have been unable to operate flights to China over the past few months due to the novel coronavirus pandemic can choose a qualified Chinese city for entry starting Monday, according to an online statement by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Airlines can file their pre-flight plans with the CAAC for the period to Oct. 24, 2020, the statement said.

To contain the risks of imported COVID-19 cases, China reduced the number of international passenger flights in March, allowing each operating foreign airline to operate only one inbound route with no more than one flight per week.

Starting Monday, the CAAC will also introduce a reward and suspension mechanism, with detailed policies for the carriers to increase or suspend flights.

If all inbound passengers of an airline test negative for novel coronavirus for three weeks in a row, the operating airline will be allowed to increase the number of flights to two per week.

If the number of passengers testing positive reaches five, the airline's flights will be suspended for a week. The suspension will last four weeks if the number of passengers testing positive reaches 10, according to the statement.
