Temple That Got Me Busted by the Police

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

They harassed you for not carrying a passport?

Wowsers! What happened to the give a little tea and problems all go away?

I’m assuming you are fluent in Khmer and can smooth talk your way out of any situation..

Unlike me.

I thought it was commonly known that you are supposed to carry your passport in Thailand.

And yet, I've lived in Thailand for almost 18 years and have never carried it, unless I need it for something specific (at a bank or at the immigration office) or travel. With one notable exception, I don't know any foreigners living in Thailand who do. You really need to be quite unlucky to get in trouble for not carrying your passport.

Of course you won't ever even need a passport in the interior of any country, wandering around border areas might attract suspicioun though.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
