Snooky Tuk Tuk

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

I'm outdated on all the new stuff.
yeah its somewhere near the port i think,
have you not seen the news about the train between SHV and PP, that opened again last year?
goes SHV>Kampot>Takeo>Phnom Penh and visa versa
about $7.50 and i think takes around 8ish hours due to long stops at each station i think
Past the port entrance heading twrds PP. On left but impossible to know unless you know. No sighnage at all. NADA!. After the shacks stop there is a lft. turn that looks like a road to nowhere.
Stoped in to pick up a schedule & indeed they had a young Khmer girl at a desk. I finally coaxed her to raise her head off the desk to answer a question. I wanted to take my truck to PP but wanted to stop off in Kampot for a day. She made the call & you cannot off load your 4 wheel vehicle in either Kampot or Tokyo or what ever that other stop is called. Motos yes, no prob. SHV to PP & versa vicea only. $10. for the trk.
Sure can not drive there for $10. but it is 7 hrs. + on & off load times. (1 hr. each end)

Even with all that it is still very tempting as my last taxi PP to SHV I was pretty sure it was my last taxi ride alive.

This shows pretty well where it is, the yellow line is NR 4 https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sihan ... 0bec03bc39
I was last there about a month ago, Barangs were being asked for $20 to the bus stations or golden lion, and settling for $10-13 for a tuktuk. With the insane amount of construction it can take up to an hour by car/tuktuk to golden lion, average is about 15-20 mins, motodop ( depending on how confident he is about his next reincarnation) 10-15 mins
up to you...

On that note can anyone tell me why Sihanoukville has different tuktuks to everyone else? I mean the ones made out of old cars. Seems weird that no other city/region has caught onto this as they are very spacious and comfortable.

They call them "Super tuktuks" no idea why they're mostly here though. Like regular tuktuks they are rapidly being supplanted by the Indian Bajaj ( what they call there an Auto Rickshaw).
up to you...

I would guess that because the PP remorque style tuktuks are no good in shv, due to lack of power for the hills, and remorques with bigger motos are necessary, alternatives to the remorque style are more attractive in shv, because the cost differential is lower.

Fourkinnel wrote: Fri Jun 23, 2017 8:54 pm Tuk tuk, I would expect to pay no more than $5. on moto $3.
BUT, I would expect to be asked for anything up to $20 especially if you have luggage.
$5 in your hand ready should do it!
Those guys are making hay while the sun shines. When Grab open up in shv, it will be game over.
