Yeah that comparison with transport in Thailand is interesting; why it's that much more expensive in Cambodia is a mystery to me.

I use Grab for airport transfers in both countries, so taking a Grab car from my home in Bangkok to the airport and then another Grab car on the same day to get from Phnom Penh Airport into the city are easily compared. My last trip as an example:

Bangkok: 26 km for 343 baht (a bit less than $10 on that day).

Phnom Penh: 13 km for 40,400 riel.

So in Bangkok it's pretty much exactly double the distance covered, for pretty much exactly the same $10 amount spent. Similar kind of car.

It’s not getting better.

Visitors arriving at the airport asked for directions. One said left, another said right. An official airport worker said he knew where to go, but had to be paid first before he would directions.

Visitors aren’t happy with the extra $3 charge to get a ride from the airport, but are carrying lots of luggage and can’t drag it past the airport to get the cheaper ride.

Lots of negative reviews so far. No positive ones.

Phnom Penh doesn't have a cheap and pretty efficient public transport system to act as competition

Even easier for market competitors to undercut the current prices.....

On Google Reviews there are both positive and negative reviews. Old airport rating 3,8 (1900 reviews), new airport rating 3,3 (580 reviews). So in that light, old airport was not much better. New airport was not really ready for launch in October as it didn't have any ATMs, sim card providers or restaurants/cafes open yet, so lot of negative reviews from that time are complaining about those. Now there's ATMs and you can get sim cards too.

The old airport acquired 1900 reviews in how many years?

The new one acquired over 500 in three months.

Who tends to leave a review?

Are you hinting that they are many who love the new airport much better than the old airport and just not leaving a positive review?

If I had reviewed the old airport (REP), I would have given it 5 stars every time. Never any queues for anything. Delightful open air design. Easy and enjoyable remorque ride into town, either free or low cost. Local food vendors at walking distance from theterminal if you were early, or delayed. It was a great experience.

I doubt I'll ever use the new one, so no reviews for that either.

Sometimes you miss the point so spectacularly. It’s a remarkable thing to observe.

No. No, he wasn’t hinting that.
