Re: Short Break in Taiwan
Ex (used to rule the roost and everything else) and would constantly remind me of it.
Missus shares the roost with me, keep it clean, well stocked with food and drink, takes or my shoes and socks, etc on coming back.
Hmm.. so if your better half had been puking her brains out for days straight, required going to the hospital for IV treatment multiple times, and was still puking and feeling crappy and all she asked was that she wanted to the shortest flight back and to sit next to you for the multi hour multi airline flight back ...
... you would just tell her to suck it up?
What a gentleman!
I’m sure she’s lucky to have such an understanding and caring husband as you.

When it comes to a plane flight though. I would definitely tell my Khmer/Cham wife to suck it up, but I would not have to ask. She does anything to save money now that we have our 6 month old son in our lives. There is a middle ground though. I flew with EVA to Cambodia from my home in Florida. I loved it. It was worth the extra $100. I flew coach and the customer service/food was amazing. On the other hand, I visited the states last year after my 29th birthday, and I used China Southern because I was being stingy. Worst decision ever. The middle ground could be a nice airline but not the shortest flight. Some of those airplanes are better than some hospitals here, comfort-wise.

Re: Short Break in Taiwan
It’s sad when the soup dumplings at the Phnom Penh airport look and taste better than the ones at the famous Taiwan Shilin Night market.

Re: Short Break in Taiwan
So this is business class...
Tablecloth, real silverware, amazing food and drink.
Vietnam was economy, and their arrival desk wasn’t so efficient. The desk lady had to snap a luggage tag photo, send to the EVA boarding gate lady, who had to then print the boarding pass, walk it to the arrival counter, so I could even go through the security line to get to the gate.
Business class from Vietnam to Taipei and then home.
Main was enoki mushroom wrapped in beef filet.
They had delicious garlic bread. I had seconds.
Real steak. Good. But the taste was a little bland despite having char, being tender, and perfect medium rare. Maybe taste buds problem at 30,000 feet?
The air crew put a quilted cover on the seat for night time sleeping and in addition to the comforter also gave out pajamas.
Too bad I was coughing my head off, had a wicked sore throat, lost my voice, and was running a fever.
Guess pharyngitis is passable.

Arrived in Kaohsiung about 7pm last night. Took a walk for street food.
Started at this shop 2km from hotel serving sticky rice with braised pork
Seems like a popular shop
Simple meal
Sticky rice with pork
Steamed egg with minced pork
Walked another 1km to a shop serving duck noodle
After duck noodle took a walk to a night food street
