Roundabouts vs traffic lights

According to this article, the UK is going back to intersections with traffic lights, while the US is starting to build more roundabouts. I like roundabouts myself, since you make your own decisions.
Roundabouts promote more fluid traffic circulation and are supposed to reduce bad accidents because they decrease speed, but traffic lights give equal time to traffic on all roads at the intersection, which is important with heavy city traffic.

As for Cambodia, would it help to have more roundabouts and less traffic lights, since nobody pays attention to red lights anyway, or would that make things even worse ?

Yea, and everyone else makes their own decisions as well,,,, usually bad decisions. And what about the poor pedestrians, how do they get around a roundabout.

This is one reason why some places in the UK are changing back to traffic lights - safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Nothing can help traffic here. They can't respect traffic lights and don't know how to use roundabouts (cutting through in a straight line/no concept of yielding). It's the most selfish (driving?) society I've ever seen to be honest. I've heard China is pretty bad too, but I've never been. They're probably pretty strict there by now.

Encountered literally the worst driving and driving conditions since moving here tonight, driving out to the airport around 7pm. No less than 10 large fire engines on the move through the suburbs, all heading out past the airport - worried for a while that a plane had come down wrong side up. Absolute total morons on the road, in the rain, flooded streets, many without lights. The number of peanuts on motos that dive into the v-section either side of the front of the big tuktuk and lock me down, and then glare at me like I'm the problem. Sheesh. /rant.

I drove in OZ last march and would like to torture whoever pushed through the round-abouts there. I like the lights. The police in Snookyville have really been stopping people so I'm not alone at the red lights anymore. Yes, Cambodia, the worst, most dangerous driving I have ever seen, (did 5 months on a Harley Singapore to north Thailand and never saw this bad.) I blame it on the lazy police not getting off their dead butts and enforcing the laws or themselves breaking the law. (not setting good examples.)
