Qatar diplomatic crisis: How it affects air travel

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Statement from Qatar Airways...
Qatar Airways flights operations are as normal, three additional flights to carry stranded Qatar Airways passengers from KSA to Muscat
.
.
“Qatar Airways operations are running as normal with no disruptions to flights with the exception of those to the four countries Qatar Airways has been restricted to fly to. In response to these restrictions Qatar Airways has arranged for three charter flights departing Jeddah today at 16:00, 22:00, and 23:00 local time, to Muscat in order to assist all Qatar Airways passengers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We encourage all Qatari passengers stranded to make their way to King Abdulaziz International Airport to avail of these three flights today, Tuesday 6th June. Full details of these charter flights are available on Qatar Airways Travel Alert page.
All effected passengers in Doha on route to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been assisted with alternative onward travel arrangements.
At Qatar Airways, our passengers remain our utmost priority and we will continue to ensure they have a seamless journey to their final destinations.”

It seems this is not only affecting air travel - my Turkish mates were unable to renew their E(B) visas as a direct result of this tension, and have been pushed back onto a tourist visa. Harsh.

Interesting...What was the reason given, and by who? Turkey are not involved in this "crisis", so why would this affect Turks in Cambodia?

Apparently they were told it's being applied to all middle-eastern nations - it's likely the local government can't adequately distinguish a hostile country from just a foreign country in that neck of the woods. Not sure of the veracity of the information being given to my friends, but confident in what they say they were told.

This might be closer to the real situation: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-06-07/w ... ed/8594742
Saudi Arabia and fellow Arab powers Egypt, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have severed their diplomatic ties with Qatar and cut off access for trucks, ships and planes.

Qataris in those countries have been given just two weeks to leave.
So there are to suddenly be many folk of middle-eastern mien on the move - and we know that we foreigners all look alike to local authorities, so perhaps it's just a knee-jerk response.

Then again, it may have nothing to do with it.

Edit: my friend commented that Qatar has "bought into" Turkey in what sounds like much the same was as China has bought Australia. Again, don't know more.
