Phnom Penh to Banlung

Any advice on a good bus line? Nattakan Bus is suggested as a quicker and better choice over Sorya. Ticket is quoted at $16 Is this correct?

Do you prefer a bus to a minivan ? There are what they call VIP minivans now - one person, one seat lol - about $20 and faster than a bus. I can find details if you want. I've done it and it's not too bad considering.

Hey thanks. According to the shop selling the ticket, Nattakan Bus is such a mini bus service. Do you know any other? Do you know if Nattakan is good. We're going tomorrow so must buy today

No, I don't know this one. $16 is a good price if you are buying it through an agent. Would be good to let us know how it is. I have to go up there soon. Where do they leave from, and let us know how long it takes etc ?
That would be ace. Cheers.

I think if you have more time you should also go to visit in Mondolkiri and then take a van to Rathanakiri. Mondokiri is also really beautiful and is worth visiting. If you haven't read my trip report down there. Here it is.

That's right, the road up to SM is a nice ride, but most of the road from Sen Monorom to Banlung was not so pretty last time I saw it.

This is unconfirmed but I heard that Sorya has or will stop bus services to Banlung, mainly due to stiff minivan competition. Rith Mony buses will still be doing the PP-Banlung route.

Anybody have more info on this ?
It's only hearsay, but sounds possible. I think they were having problems filling the buses and minivans are faster for about the same price. Also plenty of VIP minivan companies of the one ticket, one seat variety have sprung up, which was one of the few advantages of taking a bus.

Report on Nattakan Bus. We took it PP to Banlung and it made good time wit good driving. Picked us up at our hotel in PP and dropped off everyone in Banlung at any hotel they asked for. We got the phone of the driver and called him a few days later to go to K. Cham - not back to PP. [K Cham in on the way back to PP]. We got a different driver good driving and good time. Had to be encouraged a slight bit to drop us at our hotel in K. Cham.

Cost was $16 out bound, $15 inbound to K. Cham - $1 discount for shorter trip.
LATE SLEEPERS BEWARE. These trips begin at 6 am.
