Pailin Border
Pailin Border
Has anyone taken a motorcycle with Cambodian license plates into Thailand via the Pailin border crossing? What documentation is required? I have read that insurance and an international drivers license are required. Is this true?
Re: Pailin Border
It's not allowed. I heard of someone who left their bike back from the border, did the passport stuff then went back and rode the bike through. Don't know what happened though as there are road checks all around that area.

I dont see how as the Cambodian check point, immigration, is right next to the pole they raise for you to pass thru
I use that border often with my thai car, never seen any check points. In fact last time i had to drive aorund for over 20 minutes to find the thai customs to sign my car back in ...LOL

Firstly, thanks for the input, but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on whether it's a legal crossing or not. So, please tell me about your experiences with the crossing at Koh Kong.

Last Monday we crossed the boarder in Pailin into Thailand coming from Cambodia with my 4x4 car. The car has german plates and is registered on my name. A few days before I contacted David Goodchild for assistance. Although we never met before he bought an insurance for my car and sent it together with some documents for Thai customs. The officers were very friendly and helped us with the paper works and collect all red stamps. The officers explained me that they would not have let us in, without David´s documents and insurance. Yesterday I visited David Goodchild at Plodd Stop to meet him in real. I can't thank you enough, David! And I highly recommend all travellers to contact him

Crossed Cambodia to Thailand at Koh Kong today. Took about 10 - 15 minutes. No insurance or Guide asked for. They printed out TIP and TM 2 for me then they even filled them out for me. All I had to do was sign. Easy Easy
Daryl Govender Excellent. Some questions please. What bike and which country is the bike registered in. Is the bike registered in your name. Thanks and safe riding

NT Benzie No CDP. Bike is Suzuki DRZ 440. Cambodia reg. bike. And reg. In my name. But I don’t think what country the bike is from matters. As long as it is reg. In your name.

Thanks Richard for the great info. I have joined the group. I actually forgot about fb and was focusing on searching the web which is old school and has out of date info. Cheers

Is it the paillin crossing that had a new road surface recently? Some switchbacks and hairpin bends?
