NEWS: E-type (Ordinary) Visa available online

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

I just went to the Cambodian government evisa website, and to be fair to the KT, they are offering both tourist and ordinary visas as available online. (Excuses if this has been covered already.)
AFAIK, Cambodia is not issuing tourist visas at all, but this is an official government website so most people would expect it to be correct. (However, TIC.)

On the site, they also propose E for ordinary visas as available online, without stipulating that it's only for Taiwanese, so unless you apply for an application, you couldn't know that.

I suppose there's no Cambodian Embassy in Taiwan, due to bla bla, yet the Cambodia government want Taiwanese investors and their money without annoying Big Bro, so this is what they've come up with.
No embassy "yet". Lol. https://www.cambodiaimmigration.org/embassy/taiwan

@phuketrichard but that blog also states...
Embassies are interpreting the rules in their own way. Some embassies (not London) have been asking for a negative Covid test when you apply (and then another one to fly).

While some embassies have been ‘kinder’ in granting visas to people with proven connections to Cambodia such as family or long-term retirement.

Always contact your closest embassy and ask them what their requirements are. They will often supply – as London does – a WhatsApp number so you can send copies of documents in advance to be checked.

Some embassies have also been asking for more financial evidence such as bank statements or a company letter stating salary.

No...they are not offering both Tourist and Ordinary Visas, that information has always been on the website.

They are only currently offering the E-type (Ordinary) Visa, but you are right, it is not made very clear on the website unless you actually try to apply.

But the Khmer Times didn't bother to actually conduct any due diligence, extremely poor reporting as per usual.

There is one major source of confusion involved in this-

The e-visa online application for a tourist visa
The E type/ordinary visa, erroneously known also as a business visa even though it isn’t (visa either on arrival, or latterly by application to the embassy, and now also available via online application)

Couldn’t be clearer...

Now, if only they’d used

O for ordinary
Or T (thommotea) ធម្មតា

Erm....

and the link above misses some things the Bangkok Embassy requires
Bangkok's requirements are insane, to the point where I'm wondering if they are simply fishing for bribes to waive some requirements, which wouldn't surprise me at all.

Otherwise the student visa looks pretty doable with help from a "facilitator" in Cambodia. Still, not for me. While I'd like to visit, I'm not going to jump through any hoops beyond the already convoluted entry process.

Still appears that it is only going to be for Taiwanese passport holders...yet to be determined if it will ever be opened up to other Nationalities 🤔
