Nobody at the Khmer Times has done any checking and hasn't even noticed the Taiwan Only restriction. They've missed a interesting little story here. If they were to point it out it might be taken notice of by the authorities.

I emailed them and pointed it out, let's see if they reply or amend the news story.

For a start, they did not receive that info directly from the MoFAIC, that is blatantly obvious. It is the Khmer Times, they get half their news from FB or the forums and don't bother conducting any research or due diligence before posting their articles.

1) Currently it is still only available to Taiwanese passport holders, the drop down boxes do not have any other Nationalities listed.
2) The article states the Visa is aimed at short term travellers, which is not true. It is an E-type Visa, which makes the holder eligible to apply for long term Extensions of Stay.
3) The article states that it was suspended...no, the issuing of the e-Visa (electronic online TOURIST Visa) was suspended, and remains suspended. The E-type (Ordinary) Visa, which is the Visa now been made available, was NEVER previously available as an electronic visa, this is the first time ever.

We do not know that. Its possible that this new type of e-visa is not extendable.

It is an E-type (Ordinary) Visa - this is just a different way of issuing it - doesn't change the policies associated with the visa type. Anyone who enters the country with this E-type Visa will still be eligible to apply for an EOS. Just look at the supporting documentation requirements, blatantly obvious it is NOT for short term visitors.

Same as when the e-Visa (Tourist) was available, you could apply for a 1 month EOS just like a normal T-type (Tourist) Visa.
