However, the VN gov just issued a barely useful graphic today. Hopefully there will be more info tomorrow.

The gov e-visa page still only lists the 30-day visa.

Perhaps they are not anxious to see hordes of tourists.

Or 'perhaps' its not the 15th.

Or perhaps it was not approved & the 15th was the date given to decide if it is going to be approved, nothing was 100% assured by the powers that be. Plenty of nonsense flying around but my understanding is the 15th was merely a possibility & no official said it was a definite.

Update below . . .

A lot of skimpy information on the overall e-visa program. The only solid info from various news and government sources is the upgrading of maximum stay from 15 days to 45 days for the nationalities listed below. Looks like the former list, with no additions it seems. So I guess ONLY SOME of you fortunate dudes can fly into VN from today without a visa and can stay 45 days.

Source is government web site.
Gov't increases temporary residence of citizens from 13 countries to 45 days

VGP - VGP – The Government on Monday decided to increase temporary residence of citizens from 13 countries to 45 days from current 15 days.

AUGUST 14, 2023 6:47 PM GMT+7
According to its Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated August 14, 2023, this new policy shall be applied to citizens from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belarus.

The new duration of stay shall start from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, entry purpose and all entrants shall have to meet conditions prescribed by Vietnamese law.

The Resolution shall take effect from August 15, 2023./.

---------Update------

Definitely confusion over whether VN has granted ALL nations access to the 90-day e-visa program or it is still the 80-country list as linked on the gov site. The e-visa info page still only mentions the 30-day visas and $25 fee. At this link: https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/web/g ... g-chu-ttdt

This could get messy.

My friend applied 5am this morning for 90 day visa. The site up but looks like many having issues with payment as site not making payments possible .

Also you need to declare details of insurance.

Surely the site would have been tested but by comments on Facebook can't see any one get application completed.

By the looks of things all countries can apply now for evisa. Visa on arrival still restricted to certain list of countries.

If the site not correct ability to make payments could be first day no applications completed. That's going to be loss of face you would think after all the hype.

The willingness seems to be there, hopefully they can fix the payment issue soon.

They do ask for a lot more information than previously, like previous stays in Vietnam using other passports etc.

Thanks for the details, guys. But wow, insurance and past visitor history is going to be a pain -- neither of which was ever mentioned in earlier stories. I guess you only find out this stuff when applying. The visa site intro is an utter shambles. I will rate this sorry visa page a D-.

Anyway, I may not seek this 90-day visa until the fall. Hoping things get sorted by then.

Payments now working I believe.

Smooth sailing I hope. No idea the time for processing. They indicated a faster time but that's wait and see. 3- 5 days likely.

Don't leave it too close to flight departure to apply.

That application form process seems like a lot of work.

Would be nice if agents could be used

Needing some details: To you fellas who have plumbed the e-visa site:

-- what is the 90-day fee?
-- how long does it take to get an approval reply?
-- is there a mandatory insurance package?
-- are the 30-day and 90-day applications separate links? Or are they just in drop-down menus?
-- how many photos?
That application form process seems like a lot of work.
What sort of extra info is being demanded? Someone above mentioned history of VN entry visas.

A guy on the Vietnam Legal Group said every time he saved a data page, he had to wait for an OTP.

Thanks a bunch!

Good questions.

Nobody knows processing time. Their stated goal was 24 hours but at this stage plan 3 to 5 days.

Insurance details required on form. No idea if no insurance disqualified applicants.

The feedback is that it is a more detailed application for 90 day visa.

Certainly not a smooth start. But seems to be working okay now. Let's see how it pans out. Cambodia retirement visa seems a shinning light compared to jumping all these hoops!!! Many friend saying can't be bothered with the process and looking else where. That's a shame as Vietnam certainly needs tourism to fire up again.
