Nepal. A Blog.

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Thanks man, awesome. Kathmandu is a terrible shithole sometimes but often out of the blue you find a magical place or moment.

From Pokhara lake, Machapuchare, ( fishtail) dominates the skyline. The ONLY peak that has not been summited as its considered sacred..

Here is a little more Richard to your story of the sacred mountains

Machapuchare (6,993m), Nepal
The only attempt was in 1957 by a British team led by Jimmy Roberts. Climbers Wilfrid Noyce and A. D. M. Cox climbed to within 150 m (492 ft) of the summit via the north ridge, to an approximate altitude of 22,793 ft (6,947 m). They did not complete the ascent, as they had promised not to set foot on the actual summit. Ever since then, the mountain has been forbidden to climb.

Forbidden Mountains
1. Mount Kailash (6,638m), China
2. Machapuchare (6,993m), Nepal
3. Gangkhar Puensum (7,570m), Bhutan
4. Nanda Devi (7,816m), India

There are other mountains, where climbers are not allowed to step on the true summit due to religious reasons.

Kangchenjunga (8,586m), India-Nepal border
OmParvat (6,191m), India-Nepal border
Always "hope" but never "expect".
