Mondolkiri

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

I haven't been to either, but both, from this video and my own reading about the two places, seem to have their own problematic approaches to 'conservation' and 'voluntourism'.

The whole Rare Earth series they're making quite good.
Sounds interesting, but the video link isn't working. I think you can just cut and paste the whole URL now and it should work ?

Ah, I edited it to YouTube tags as it didn't seem to work first time round

Head out on highway 6 and head to Kampong Cham, then turn right at Snoul.

No less than 6 hours on a big bike, more like 8. But if you're not an experienced rider it's probably better to stop at Kampong Cham town for the night.

I've done it twice directly from Phnom Penh, and I've been exhausted each time. Even as an experienced rider, I'd recommend to stay one night in Kampong Cham.

Yes, it's not much fun. I got some dates mixed up once and had to get a rental Baja back by midday. Was a hard slog.

Kampong Cham is worth a few nights, but not much else on the way up there worth staying at.

Kratie too, but would be a detour.

Great cruisy ride these days from Kampong Cham to Kratie via Krouch Chhmar and Chhlong along the river. Road is good and scenery much more interesting than the highway.

If time isn't an issue, I'd go PP > Kampong Cham > Kratie > Snuol > Sen Monorom, meaning you're only in the road for about 3 hours each day.
