I am in love with Battambang city and province

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

I went to Battambong about 4days in 2011. but for working, not trip. I didn't see anything besides Sangkei tributary after water festival, dirty. However, I like that province so much because even dry seanson or rainy season,the trees and plans look green ever :-):-):-)

head out to the lake;
when i first visited in 2008 the road was all dirt form the turn off, now its nicely paved,
great place to relax and have a light meal ( there are food sellers there) an fills up on weekends with locals.

Got a history to it as well if u care to look it up.
There some nice smaller temples around Batt ( within 20 kms or so) an see very very few visitors.
take some nice dirt roads thru small villages and u feel like u stepped back in time.

Road to the border used to be all dirt , now fully paved and an easy 90 minute drive.

Banteay Srey is quite nice indeed. Is the road good now? When I went there a few years ago the roads were bad and it didn't get many tourists. I was all alone except when a helicopter landed with a couple of tourists! But locals told me the road was going to get paved soon.

I've been to Battambang three or four times and I always enjoy myself. It's a nice town with some good countryside to explore.

The road to Banteay Srey is good now. I went there in October last year.

You should have been to the outskirts of the city. It is really beautiful and moreover there are so many places to go which are really close to the city such as Bamboo Train riding. I rode the bambook train. It was so shaky, but it was so much fun though. If considered it as a real train riding, it would be my first time to ride the train. Anyway you still can go there any time you want as it is in our kingdom. :)

Killing caves of Phnom Sampeau

The killing caves of Phnom Sampeau are caves in Phnom Sampeau, a hill 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Battambang in Cambodia. Major atrocities occurred there during the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s. Many victims were bludgeoned to death and then tossed into holes which served as the skylights to the caves.[1] Men and women were placed in separate caves and clothes in another.[1] Today there is a large glass memorial in the cave next to the skulls and bones and a golden reclining Buddha. It is reached via a staircase. A memorial, assembled from cyclone fencing and chicken wire, contains human bones at the base of the stairway.[2][3]

I have been to that cave and i also walked down into the cave. It was so dark and i saw so many bones and skulls. I also had been told a lot of story and history about that cave. I will share about it in my full trip review along with the picture of that large glass.
