Last Repatriation Flight For French in Cambodia
For information.
PHNOM PENH - For French or Belgian tourists, backpackers, or expats: This was mentioned in another thread, but if anyone is interested in a flight to France for around 450euros, contact the consulate. They are trying to organize a plane from Phnom Penh to Paris before the end of May, and they say that this is their last and final offer.

From the Khmer Times today:

French Embassy in Cambodia looks to arrange repatriation flight
The French Embassy in Cambodia, in a post on its website said it is currently contacting all the people who had informed the embassy that they were looking for a repatriation solution to France, and who, according to our information, are still at Cambodia, in order to have a precise estimate of the number of French people passing through still stranded in Cambodia.
Depending on this number, the possibility of setting up a last special flight chartered by the State will be considered.
“This flight is in no way confirmed. It is a question for the Embassy of France of knowing how many people would be interested and likely to take such a flight, which could take place between May 20 and 30.
“This flight would not be free, but would take place a priori under conditions similar to previous flights chartered by the embassy. The cost would be around 450 euros per passenger, to be paid to the French Treasury in the 90 days following the return to France,” the embassy post said.
“This repatriation flight is intended for French travelers (tourists stranded in Cambodia following the cancellation of their flights, etc.) as well as vulnerable people. If you are in this, please by email to the address [email protected] and send a copy of your Cambodian visa and your contact details.
A decision on a possible special flight will be taken in the coming days depending on the number of French people really interested.
The embassy had organised an earlier flight via Qatar Airways in April.

Re: Last Repatriation Flight For French in Cambodia
Nobody wants to admit it, but the French Embassy in Cambodia have been on the ball for repatriating their expats and tourists. They have already sent a planeload or three back to France with some other Europeans. Good communication, reasonable prices, and a real attempt to be helpful.
Compared to, ummm...
Anyway, good to see some embassy efficiency.

Re: Last Repatriation Flight For French in Cambodia
The French have a certain "je ne sais quoi" about rapid strategic withdrawals. By their own high standards, I'd say they've actually been quite shoddy.

They even get credit! The cost would be around 450 euros per passenger, to be paid to the French Treasury in the 90 days following the return to France,” the embassy post said.

Re: Last Repatriation Flight For French in Cambodia
Imagine if the foreigners in Cambodia in 1975 had gone to the UK embassy instead of the French one? The KR would have gotten bored and killed everyone before the embassy staff got around to doing anything.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
