head to Burma
I've spent many many days travelling around, ( 7+ days on the chindwin , never saw another white person) and sledom saw a Farang as they are mostly only visiting Yangon, Mandalay, Inle lake and Bagan, sadly they are only issuing business visas currently and even with that, much of the country is not accessible
Laos on the other hand, gets loads of Farangs, but its still a great country to roam around

Re: Laos OPENS
Isn’t Burma in the middle of a civil war? Because of the Ukraine war news, I haven’t heard a lot about what’s happening there anymore.
I would hate to go on a sightseeing tour and come back with bullet holes.

If the Laos embassy in Phnom Penh could resumes issuing stamp visa it will be perfect. I don't trust the online visa, based on past disappointment.

Re: Laos OPENS
That's good news. I was all over northern Laos more than twenty years ago but I'd really like to see the southern parts like Pakse and the thousand islands, and going there overland seems like the best option.

Re: Laos OPENS
why would anyone buy a visa online when you can get it on arrival?
cheaper/faster
( same goes for cambodia, except online u dont get the full page stamp)
all of laos is great, but do recommend you have ur own vehicle to get the most of the trip
my last trip was finally able to make it to

Re: Laos OPENS
My one and only trip to Laos was to Vientiane and Vang Vieng. Would love to visit Luang Parabang and elsewhere.
I can definitely see the Thai/Lao connection, but Laos seemed to have a slower vibe than Thailand.

Re: Laos OPENS
Vang Vieng in 2012 was a full on party town with lots of beer, whiskey and dope, ( Ganga, Opium, Magic mushrooms)
Government decided that was not what they wanted, ( people were floating down the river in inner tubes and stopping for drinks along the way and jumping off cliffs into the water where more than a few died or were injured )
so the next year, when returned, it was all different, quiet and peaceful and everything was closed at 10 pm
