Palawan is the best place I've been in SEA & AC is probably the worst. I imagine you will be going to El Nido. Take day trips to the islands nearby. Kayak out to Cadlao Island. Tay Tay is pretty as well. There is a great 5 star hotel there for drinks & pool on a perfect beach. Check out Coron & Lake Kayangan if you have time. Puerto Princesa & the Underground River are worth a skip IMO. Don't get talked into renting a bike in PP to ride to EN (like I did). Even if they paved the road now it's always raining cats & dogs on the mountain & dangerous as fuck.

A Saudi carrier, I think. That's as safe as it gets, right?Digg3r wrote:I hope you are not flying a Russian airline into or out of Egypt.
Be sure to post if you see scobienz on your trip.
Have fun!

I think it's about 5 nights. A night in Manila, about 5 in Palawan, then a couple more nights in Manila before I come back to the desert.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote:Haha... I was in the Philippines recently for a few weeks. Great place. Can't tell you much about Egypt unfortunately. How long are you guys supposed to be in Palawan for?
What part were you on?
Haha, if history repeats itself, I'll be booking her a flight back to Manila before we're even out of the airport.Username Taken wrote:Will you be taking your new Filipino friend to Angeles City with you?General Mackevili wrote:

I have a random co-worker who's going to Angeles City the whole time, so might try to pop over there a night or 2 when I get back to Manila.

Good to hear! Almost everyone who's gone there recently said it's a shit hole.TheGrinchSR wrote:Cairo is fucking wonderful and I could spend months in that city. You're not going to get kidnapped by Isis. Don't stay in Giza... too far from the fun. Stay in the city and take a tour out to the pyramids.
Yeah, I just booked a room in Hilton on the Nile river. Looks pretty central and also next to an island in the middle of the city which is supposedly a really nice area.
I don't know what I'll do there, and while I usually don't stay in 5-star hotels, if Cairo sucks, at least I have a cool place to crash (alone by the sound of it, LoL).
A buddy will be there at the same time, and it looks like we'll get a tour/taxi to the pyramids together.
Anything else I just have to do while I'm there?
As of now I only plan to see the pyramids, maybe take a boat dinner cruise, go bar hopping, eat bacon, see some museum, check out some old ass market, and maybe blow a whopping $20 at the casino in my hotel, LoL.
There's also a chance I'll just get shit faced at the hotel and do nothing else the whole time.
Best place in SEAsia? Damn! Quite a statement.wackyjacky wrote:Palawan is the best place I've been in SEA & AC is probably the worst. I imagine you will be going to El Nido. Yeah, it sounds like I'll take a taxi/bus to El Nido, where my friends are meeting us and then we'll travel another hour or so to get wherever they have their guesthouse.
I still haven't looked up anything for Palawan yet, and the only thing I've booked is my first night in Manila (an area called makaka).
Sound like great ideas and I will have some questions about them once I get the chance to look them up.
Anywho, thanks to all for the comments, advice and reviews of the places!

Re: Just Booked Tickets to Egypt and the Philippines this Month! (Cairo & Palawan)
Quick notes: 1. If you're in a 5 star hotel in Cairo and it's not Ramadan - sleeping alone is purely optional - find the disco, find the girls. If it's not in your 5 star, it's in the one next door.
2. If you go to Cairo expecting the Gulf - you will be disappointed - if you go expecting a shithole, you'll be pleasantly surprised and the people are genuinely brilliant
3. That old market is great, be careful that you don't eat salad there or anywhere else in Cairo - you are ten thousand times more likely to get food poisioning from uncooked stuff there than anywhere else on earth (just remember how they clean their backsides... and how they haven't learned to wash their hands properly just yet).
4. The sphinx is definitely worth a look too. I thought it was way more impressive than the pyramids - though if you go and do the lightshow in the evening, the pyramids look awesome. Also the cave church, the hanging church, some of the more famous mosques, the citadel and the old city are worth a trot round too.
5. Don't forget to buy your Egyptian cotton shirts... very, very comfortable in the heat of the gulf and whilst insanely expensive everywhere else on earth, they're cheap as chips in Cairo.

GM, I think you mean Makati not "Makaka" and that's where you want to be. BTW, what's up with all those 'amps' in my quote ? ps: LA Cafe is now called Manila Bay Cafe, is 20-30 mins from your location, and it will entirely obviate your need to visit AC. I'm sure that there are some good joints in Makati too, but I don't know any. I can vouch for LA.

Whew, back to Manila from Palawan! No internet and no power out there in El Nido. Tough life, LoL ...
