I wonder how many CEO posters have been visiting or visited Russia, as almost everyone, i meant foreigners and westerners i met have never been to Russia. Most of them have provided the same reasons for not visiting Russia. They said it is hard to get visa to visit there and moreover there is nothing to see in Russia.

I personally believe that a big country like Russia, there must be a lot tourist attractions to visit.

Spent a year studying Russian and read/speak a little as my good mate was from there (Moscow) in primary school so we exchanged languages, but I've never been for an extended period of time sadly. Loved the few days I was there, but that was eastern Russia (near the Korean side) where there wasn't much of anything and I "fit" in a lot better because of the ethnic Koreans in the area.

Russians can get some bad publicity often, but I really enjoyed what I saw.

I went for a week for a football match in 1993. It was just starting to open up post Cold War but we still had to apply for our visa and accomodation through the government run/vetted tourist company, Intourist. It was certainly an eye opener and a reflection of Communist misery. The people were pretty unwelcoming probably down to the poverty that was very evident, it was a step back into the dark ages.

Did you use your American passport at that time? It must not easy to enter Russia with American passport.

Wow this pretty much like North Korea where you have to book everything with the tourist company run by the government. I don't meet many Russian in Cambodia, even though they are here, I would not communicate with them, as they might not like taking in English or probably don't know the language.

I wonder if peope from China and North Korea could go to Russia easily.

I've been to Russia. Great country and people. Beautiful language with a rich literature. Its history (especially the 20th century) is also one of the most interesting and turbulent ever. One of the few countries (along with France, I suppose) to have been a world power not once, but twice. Very diverse both geographically and ethnically. Oh, and gorgeous women... I was only there three weeks or so, which wasn't nearly enough. I had two Russian friends I met up with (who I knew/met from when I lived in Germany). Russians have a bad international reputation, but I've always found them to be entertaining and full of heart. Unfortunately, I lost a lot of my pictures when I dropped my old external hard drive a few years ago. I'll try to dig up a few pictures for you samouth.

There many Russians in Cambodia ( dont u read about shv?)
and lots here in Phuket as they love the beach an bars , many are young couples and many have $$$
there are a few parents with young kids in the school my gf works at.

Many were moving here, buying up business, homes, working illegally, last year as before they could get a free 90 day visa exempt but they stopped that an than the Rubble crashed,

Most thai's hate them, they are rude, obnoxious, very loud an mean drunks

But some of the women ohh lala

as to traveling, its quite easy to go to Russia but the distances turn people off

According to this thread, i feel like not many posters here ever made it to Russia and it is really good for you that made it there and saw thing by your own eyes despite what the media said about it. I hope that one day i will be able to make it there too, there are many places that i want to go and see, but i really don't have optimistic about it and it doesn't seem to be realistic at all.

There are some Cambodians who had been educated in Russia, however i have never talked to them as i don't know anyone who have studied in Russia.

BTW which part of Germany have you lived? Eastern Germany?
