Yes, you need to show all, old passport is useless when applying for a new one, strangely....

Take originals & copies of;

- Official Cambodian Birth Certificate
- Family Book and/or Carnet de Residence (or certificate of residence if don't have either of the above)
- Parents ID (National ID Card for Cambodian parent, passport for foreign parent)
- Old passport (if applicable)
- Marriage Certificate if married (although not an official requirement, it is often demanded if one of the parents is a foreigner, however, there is NO requirement to be married to apply for a child's passport)

1. Adult passport (age 6+), Validity 10 years, 65 pages
$100 20 day processing
$150 10 day processing
$200 1 day processing

2. For children (under 6), Validity 5 years, 48 pages
$80 20 day processing
$120 10 day processing
$160 1 day processing

Applicant must be there in person, as they take biometrics and digital photo, cannot apply on behalf of the applicant.

Many negative reports from people applying at the Aeon 2 passport office, I always recommend the Main Passport Office in Chbar Ampouv.

The office is on the 3rd floor. It cannot be reached directly by the elevators but you can take an escalator from the 2nd floor.

On entering the main hall of the Office, take a sharp left and line up to pay 2000 riel for an application form.

The applicant completes the form and hands it in at the window that states $4 is payable for photos and fingerprinting. If there are any errors in the completion of the form, the applicant will need to pay another 2000 riel and start again with a new form.

When the form has been accepted and $4 paid, the applicant goes to the section for photographing etc.

The applicant then must wait to be called to have his/her height checked.

Then the form is stamped at two more desks before he or she finally pays $100 at the cashier's desk (assuming one month waiting time is acceptable). A receipt is issued for the $100.

All work ceased at 12 noon until 1pm. I would guess that 1pm may be a good time to show up as it was quieter then, hopefully you would complete everything by closing time.

Richard, I posted this nearly 6 years ago!!
I do remember the price was $100 plus $5 for something, plus $0.50 for the application form. We were in there for about 3-4 hours including the lunch break.
fuck, my bad, didn't look at the date

Parents should just wait for 12 months before they get their child's first passport otherwise it'll be another 5 year one.

I seeking a help from my local friend,, he said he also get same problem but when he submit the passport, he just provide the ID card and all is done,, BUT it was 5 years ago,, don't know now 2024 still have change any terms and condition or not.. really need your guys help to light me,, as maybe that passport need to be use in 3 months later.
Regarding the birth certificate.

Things may have changed a little in the last couple of years*. Birth certificates may have come under some extra scrutiny over irregularities, as my other half ran into issues last year. The folks in the provincial offices not really taking much care with official documents, and the folks at the department of identification being more diligent. We had to go through the process of getting a correct birth certificate issued. Some clever soul having used the same birth certificate reference number for two different people. Even though my partner had been using her birth certificate for everything official for years, all of a sudden, it was a mess which took a few months and many visits to resolve.

Cambodians have a bad habit of just accepting things as they are, and not double checking if the records are correct. That’s not just the authorities issuing documents, but the recipients too.

I would strongly advise following PSD’s advice, and go to the main passport office, irrespective of inconvenience.

My son who was born in the UK and has a UK and Australian passport. He has
2 children aged 13 and 8 years old born in Cambodia. Neither have a birth
certificate. The children have the same mother. How can my son obtain a
passport for his children without a birth certificate? Thanks

He can't. It all starts with a birth certificate. Parents in Cambodia have the legal obligation to apply for a birth certificate within a month from birth. After that month a painstaking process starts at the ministry of interior, department of identification if I recall well to obtain a birth certificate. When that certificate is issued, other documents like passports become available.

 Basics....how bloody irresponsible! Obviously since they haven't got birth Certificates your son wouldn't have been able to apply for their Australian or UK Citizenship and passports either.

First things first, they need to get their Cambodian Birth Certificates...this is supposed to be done within 30 days of birth. They need to be applied for from the Sangkat where the Cambodian parent is registered, because they have left it so late it will now require witnesses who knew the family when the children were born, as well as the Certificate of birth from the hospital, parents passports, National ID, Family Book and/or Carnet de Residence....and likely tea money. Because it has been left soon long they will probably have to apply through the Department of Identification.

No birth certificate = no passport.
