The Ministry of Tourism and the Phnom Penh municipal administration have recognised 33 tourism businesses in the capital which have consistently implemented safety measures for tourists and adhered to the code of conduct issued by the ministry.

Recently, the ministry announced that tourism businesses had to follow a code of conduct to help them recover and to protect clients against Covid-19 infections.

The municipal administration announced its findings on Monday at a review meeting to implement safe tourism measures as a first step in the Covid-19 crisis action plan.

Quarantine cancelled for investors and experts

The government will adjust quarantine measures and prepare special arrangements for potential investors, technical experts and consultants who come to the Kingdom, said senior officers of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).

SSCA’s spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha said yesterday the government on Monday reviewed health and safety measures for potential investors. He said the government could reduce the cash deposit for the COVID-19 cover charge at the airport from $3,000 to $2,000 for investors entering Cambodia. Currently, they are required to pay a $3,000 deposit by cash or credit card.

The move applies only to potential investors whose names are catalogued in the investment list of the Council for the Development of Cambodia and other government memorandums. The government will provide this special arrangement for them, but other conditions regarding health and safety measures will still apply, Chansereyvutha said.

“The government does not want to keep them in quarantine for 14 days once they arrive in Cambodia. Once they (investors) arrive at the airport, we will test them to figure out whether they have COVID-19 and then allow them to go, but the government will have IT [information technology] system or mobile phone application to track them. The investors come to Cambodia for only two or three days, so we want to facilitate them,” he added.

He said that this is to encourage potential investors and for important technical expertise to come to the Kingdom by negating the quarantine days and the $3,000 deposit cash. However, no tourist visas will be issued at the request of the Ministry of Health but other types will under strict conditions.

So if you're an investor your allowed to pass on the covid for 2-3 days then leave, that's scary

Well of course Richard, this is only available for technical experts and consultants, whom, I would think so many, that relies upon the advise and work of a highly skilled person. Although there are no reference to what or where the scope of skill factor would lay, so therefor one could only make a wild guess, such has a translator or lawyer could fit the bill, thinking about it, also the wife or husband of a potential investor, more so it could be that of an highly skilled medical person, or even that of a butler, chauffeur, even specialised Bentley technician. Anyhow its only that of a short visit, and at a reduced rate in holding fees, the skilled, investor still abide by the entry rules and regulations, so technically they would have been tested twice in that 72 hours, also they will be tracked on their whereabouts. later the article/post news says "we want to facilitate them". Who could argue against progress and investment at such a time of a decline, in many aspects that COVID-19 has effected many peoples livelihood. The numbers look to be once again rising here in the city, with Chinese investment. It seems it is going well for the potential investor, with its countries airlines flying in and out daily for some months now I am led to believe, also with the unfortunate hardships of past foreigners and local business, there seems to be more opportunities for new investment with potentially more business properties available, and at reduced rents in some cases. Two or three days visit, so I ask what harm can that bring?

what if someone else on thier plane test positive can they still carry on thier business, its a scary joke. Everyone else needs to quarantine or self quarantine for 14 days which is suppose to ensue everyones safety.
