First time visit to Cambodia - advice
Hi all
Im landing in Phnom Penn a few days after Christmas later this year. I will be in the country for about 14 days and want to get some insight on best places to spend some time.
Priorities are a nice beach to relax on during the day. In the evenings it would be great to have access to bars for foreigners as well some more local girly type bars if I get bored of talking to hippies. If there are venues to play a bit of pool and some poker too then all the better. Ability to watch premier league games that are on is also neccesary.
So in summary:
Good beach, good food, good nightlife (foreign and local), poker, pool tables, good beer, premier league football on the tv.
We will definitely be visiting Koh rong as our friend lives there. Any views or insights into this island?
Its my birthday whilst we are here. What city/area would you choose for a celebration?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply
Are you based in Sihanoukville or PP yourself? Whats the best area to stay if I want to be central to nightlife and best beach?
I hear Snooky is similar in many ways to Pattaya is that true? Im not sure if thats a good or bad thing really. I enjoy Pattaya in small doses. Will be there for a few nights before catching a flight to PP.

yeah i spend most my time in Sihanoukville, if you renting out a bike it doesnt really matter where you stay it only takes 5-10minutes to get from one side of town to the other
youve got the ocheateal beach area, full of bars, hostess bars and restaurants on beach road, the square (thai style open beer bars), pubstreet and on the beach its self and behind the beach,
on the other side of town there is the victory hill area, which also has bars hostess bars and restaurants, with its own beaches too
there are bars and beaches in between scattered about,
Victory hill tends to be more of an expat crowd where the ocheateal beach area has more of a tourist/backpacker crowd but people float around between the both

Just go to Sihanoukville and get a boat to Koh Rong. What could go wrong? Its A London Thing wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2017 6:54 pm Hi all

Re: First time visit to Cambodia - advice
@OP
You've only got 2 weeks in Cambodia and some friends on Koh Rong. I'd programme 1 week on KR and 1-3 days in PP and SHV on each side. IMO that's enough.
But up to you...
That's the chill-out option, but if you want a super-speed visit to Cambodia, you can also do Angkor Wat, go jungle trekking, and then see the dolphins in Kratie in one week, after or before Koh Rong. I wouldn't advise that, but it's up to you and what you want to make of your time here.

Thanks for the input chaps
Can someone suggest the best area to stay in Phnom Penn? Where is the nightlife centred?

Daum Penh district, closer to the "Riverside" the better, anywhere near streets 104/118/130/136/172 or street 51, all these streets are within walking distance of each other maybe a 10-15 minute walk (a few minutes in a tuk tuk) from 104 to 172/51 areaIts A London Thing wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2017 10:39 pm Thanks for the input chaps

Where did you read or hear that ?, Sihanoukville has much nicer beaches than Pattaya.
