First time visit to Cambodia - advice

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

i think the heroin sold for coke story was first mentioned a decade ago or so by someone who survived an OD along with a fatality in the same hotel or following a classic string of deaths happening over a few days/weeks. The rumor kept alive ever since with regular seemingly wrong profiles new suspicious deaths.
For my part I believe they are the result off drunkness/unwariness/unexperience + very white and very strong heroin + greedy tuktuk dealers who aren’t usualy themselves users of this one product and have no clue/care to warn one time customers when selling a particularly strong batch.

It was definitely a real thing in Amsterdam.
A couple of years ago signs was put up all over town warning for fake coke that was heroin. Tourists died and the authorities created a drug amnesty and cheap tests so that anybody could test their drugs legaly.

I think it's possible for it to happen as they both look similar. It's also possible that the "thought it was coke" thing is just made up a lot of the time to make the person in question seem less like a dirty, diseased junky and more like an international traveling sophisticate?

Reaching the end of one's earthly journey as a result of unintentionally overdosing on substance X - under the misapprehension that it was substance Y - is
almost certainly the gods' way of telling the ill-fated snorter that s/he has no business walking the earth any longer.

After one widely-reported death, that of a black athlete skilled at whizzing balls around, hysterical politicians raced legislation onto the statute books:

Thank goodness Cambodia lacks such silly politicians
