I don't think it sounds like that great a deal either. However I've been all over Europe and stayed in St Tropez way back. If you want 5 Star service there now you'll be looking at $900 a day at a wild guess.Strawberryshake wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 3:17 pm
Very nicely made field report of that dead-boring place and i will take it as a reminder to never ever go there. With their prices you could have been easily staying in Saint Tropez which is a rather expensive 5 stars beach town full with first class entertainment in the South of France.

Re: A Few Days on the Beach
Been there plenty of times over the years. It's not really that much less seedy than before, the little strip that goes up the hill from Ocheuteal, it just feels like the dregs are left there now, trying to milk dollars out of people going to the islands. There were a few Westerners hanging around drinking over-priced beer, but they looked more like full-time party animals than tourists.jaynewcastle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 11:14 pm " And oh, shit yeah, got stuck down there for one night at the pier in S'ville... Aw man, get there early or phone the boat company in advance, you do not wanna hang around S'ville for a night if you can avoid it. It was dodgy as hell and really expensive. $11 for the most horrible pork belly I've ever had in my life, dreadful hotel. It felt like a trap, I thought people were gonna rob me, just a seedy atmosphere in the air. "
Curious, have you been to that area of Snooky in the past, before it was gentrified in the last 4-5 years ?, or was this your 1st visit
Were there many (any) western foreign tourists around ?

I did say Saint Tropez its a 5 star beach Town just a simple hotel there and it will work out nicely. Am Just saying these prices for a “developing country” are totally out of whack for what they are offering.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 11:47 pmI don't think it sounds like that great a deal either. Re: A Few Days on the Beach
Appreciate your reply. Part of me wants to go back again & see whats its like now, & see the islands again, but I think overall I prefer to remember what it was like, prior 2018.siliconlife wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 1:18 amBeen there plenty of times over the years. Re: A Few Days on the Beach
by buying that crab with eggs you encourage them to keep them, rather than throw them back and soon there will be no more crabs.
and please dont tell me they were dead already>>> you could have chatted with them why you were not interested in buying a female crab with eggs.
Bad move on ur part

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
