When I went in July, all the companies were using the smallest boats. Same as Doc described I think, they seat about 20. I saw the bigger boats at the SHV pier but never saw one move.
The supply boat is the biggest (and cheapest) boat, but takes 5 hours they say. Did you ever go on that?

I have took the supply boat few times and it only takes 2-3 hours if the sea is not too rough. But I prefer the speed boats. Faster and safer.

After a tiny speedboat on my 1st visit, I've only got the large quicker boats over to the islands, and even on the yellow boat I used many times, have seen many people throwing up, including myself. I wouldn't want to spend 2-3hrs on a slower boat at all

Soksan beach is made up of the soft white sand that makes walking a lot harder & tiring, by the time I got to Soksan village, I'd decided to get a boat back to Ko Touche, rather than walk back . I remember that wooden boat taking nearly a hour to do the trip, but having a look at that side of the island from the water was very nice. I'd imagine in years to come, that beach will be lined with hotels, much as Saracen bay on Koh Rong Samloem is nowadays .

On my last visit in Jan 2018, I was going to stay in Soksan village for 3 nights, to allow me access to explore & walking parts of the island I hadn't seen before (I don't do lying on a beach sun-bathing at all ), but in the end, its remoteness & the extra cost/hassle of getting there & back, compared to Ko Touche, led me to book a hotel in Ko Touche the whole week, with lots of walking around the southern part of the island

But I agree it doesn't look too inspiring. However for $43 a day all in I wouldn't expect truffles.

Better than Sok San and that was considerably more expensive. A burger would have come as welcome relief. Chicken salad baguette? Luxury...

That looks better I just screen printed the Facebook page didn't think to open the message thanks and sorry for misleading anyone, I'll probably go there in March now I'm not eating burgers every night

even the extended version of the menu is not much better,,i also wonder what Spaghetti Napoli is..no such dish in Italy (on italian domains). As the food is included (and prepaid) there wont be much love in the preparation of the dishes either. I hope I am wrong.

@John Bingham there dont need to be truffles to make it acceptable..but with zillions of recipes available on the net its also not very difficult to make a slightly more appealing menu. Heaven (the beach) and hell (the food) comes into my mind. I remember the Phillipines beeing like that..awful food..paradise beaches.
