Favorite restaurants? Can you recommend an optician.

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

In some other thread someone told me Pickled Parrot was in St. 104, and frankly, I'm pretty sure it is, althought I've never been there, yet.

Also, my prescription sunglasses had a screw break. Anybody know a place that can fix it? When I was in Bangkok a few days ago the only place that said they could fix it said it would be a couple of days to repair.

What happend to talking about food?

Here are my rankings as far as eating goes in the city.

1.Angkor India
2. brooklyn Pizza
3. Taqueria Corona
4. Taste Buds.
5. Tai Tai
6. Da noi (w.e the name is of that italian place with the pool behind SOS)
7. Vietnam soup psar kendal market
8. sheer panjab 2
9. 18 next to night market
9. idfk Khmer beer garden on st 432

In that order. I'm an Italian American from New York so I'm on the level of Food Gestapo. I was(still technically) an elite member on yelp with 300 food reviews. Does that mean I know more then you about food? Yes it does.

I dont eat seafood in P.P cause I know where the fish comes from. I dont trust it.

The Indian food here is fantastic...almost all of them are great. Taste buds is the most popular with Indian expats but its southern indian food, which means its on the lighter side. Ankor India is northern and Nepali. So its heavier and richer. There is another great on russian blvd by the cambodia bank HQ. Its expensive though. Indian delight is hit or miss and lately its been a miss. I only eat there when I want chili chicken.

Chinese food? I cannot find. I usually go to Tai Tai for chow fun which is only $2.50. Its geared towards seafood and dont have any Chinese food that I'm familiar with. Sam Doo is good but the portions are small. I wanted wanton soup but they put pork wantons in seafood broth. Chinese noodle house also has wanton soup but there broth is awful! it looks like sea water. But cheap as hell.

Italian? Fuck that. I'll do it home. Da noi is the only place I cared for but portions are tiny and brutally expensive. I dropped 20 bucks on 1 dish...I was so excited....here comes the food andddddddd nothing on plate. Maybe 500grams worth of food.

That Turkish place on 172 is a joke. I asked for standard Turkish dishes the owner was laughing...."nooo I cannot.....maybe someday in the future" I was like dude....your fucking turkish...put down the hippy grass and cook me some real shit.

There is this new Mediterranean joint in BKK1 thats fantastic but again...small portions and too much olive oil. Dont get me wrong I sweat the stuff but there is a certain saturation point where your body says enough is enough. I havent been there in a few months the name slipped my mind. The owner is a sweet lady and her farther is their also.

Pizza...its Brooklyn and only Brooklyn and anyone else who says otherwise is a either a drunk or has Downs. Granted the khmer cooks are lop lop when applying toppings but you know their will be fuck ups and especially in a joint that is that fast paste. Just avoid taken a pie home Friday. Just like in the states.

Samba sucks....it was like a half ass broiled steak...no better then some drunk middle aged Irish women cooking for her kids. and T-Bone SteakHouse was even more dreadful.

Nagaworld buffet? I'd rather swim in the creek off 271.

Khmer food? What can I say....all those places are the same. 54 isnt bad near st 51 and I do enjoy 18 next to night market.

I love the soup in Kendal market. Thats my lunch spot every other day. Even though its out of the way and the old bitch jacked the prices up 1000 riel....Shes got me hooked.

I will paint the brush and say everything on riverside is terrible.

Bakery? Blue Pumpkin is "okay" ABC is terrible. That french one across from Blue Pumpkin on st 63 is great. 3A on st 144 is decent but its all sweetbread. Most Underrated is without a doubt the Stung Meanchy bakery right after the bridge.

Their are many places I have tried but not worth mentioning and many I never even bothered too go.

Any advice as far as chinese goes?

You think THAT'S a measure of gastronomy? My mistake, I thought this was a forum for grownups. Carry on...
