Emirates flies to Phnom Penh
By TTR WEEKLY -
June 7, 2019
BANGKOK, 7 June 2019: Emirates launched a daily service earlier this week connecting Bangkok and Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh.

The daily service between Dubai and Phnom Penh, with a stop in Bangkok, also complements Emirates’ five direct daily Dubai – Bangkok flights in addition to its daily service between Phuket and Dubai, using a mix of B777 and A380 aircraft.

EK370 departs Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 0845 (local time) and arrives in Bangkok at 1815. It departs after a one-hour and 45-minute transit stop and arrives at Phnom Penh International Airport at 2125.

Flight EK371 departs Phnom Penh at 2320 and arrives in Bangkok at 0040, the following day. After a short layover, it departs at 0225 and arrives in Dubai at 0535.

PiPay has an offer on this new route (PNH-BKK) for $138 round trip, less $5 promo. But JC and Lanmei are routinely offering fares around $50 one-way. It's competitive on that route now. I wonder how PG and TG are coping.I haven't used Air Asia either for a long while.

That flight is extremely expensive. The same ticket from BKK is about 200 USD cheaper, so not recommended unless there's a very special offer.

For instance: PNH-AMS: EUR 832. BKK-AMS EUR 626.

On Emirates I get quoted prices between USD 741 and 1341 for that flight, with departure the day after tomorrow, two weeks stay, flex 3 days in departure- and return flight.

You must have seen a spectacular promotion.

For September 2019 (when I will travel to my home country) I am quoted 934 USD and up for a return flight to The Netherlands from PNH. I booked a return flight on Emirates from Bangkok for EUR 560 which equals 620 USD.
That means the 'extra' stretch PNH-BKK on Emirates is actually more expensive than a separate return ticket on Bangkok airways, which used to be the most expensive carrier on that route with 5-6 daily flights.

If I would travel alone I woudn't care so much, but with a family of 4 the difference in price is simply too big to resist.

Is this replacing the Yangon route?

The emirates route to Phnom Penh currently does a short stop in Yangon. Passenger numbers have been variable, and frequently in cattle class I’ve had a whole row to myself.
I’m guessing that this service is partially going to replace the Yangon route. I wonder if the timings won’t be so handy, now.
