Dancing in Circles: An Expatriate in Cambodia

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Cool stuff. I lived in the Bodge from 91-97 (yeah the coup was the final straw for me) and worked as an English teacher and later for UNTAC. We prolly crossed paths at some point and knew the same people. Were u a social type or did u mostly stay at home?

Only the chicest of the chic would refer to the place as 'the Bodge'.
Love it.

I was pretty social until 1997, and then I stuck with my friends and husband. 1997 was a bad year for me---nearly died, abdominal surgery at Polyclinique Aurore, and July 5th happened right after I had been discharged home. I could barely walk at that point.

Hope you enjoy this excerpt! Still waiting to hear from the publisher, but The Nasiona has published a chapter.

It is a shock to realize that the drowsy Sihanoukville Deb depicts is from just two decades ago.
As someone on this forum noted, 'that' Cambodia has gone for good.

Yes, the extract reconfirmed my first thoughts on learning you were going to publish a book of your time here. I am looking forward to reading it all.
