Carrying prescription drugs into other countries

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

'' valium is no different than cocaine or heroin

I am reasonably sure he meant in the eyes of the law of that country.

There is a section that is itemized for meds on customs declaration form?

I take the valium for the flight itself (and return). Never been to Japan, but good to know anyways. Japan sounds extreme if ibuprofen is prescription...

had a friend got busted importing drugs into Japan, he only did one year ( and a fine) and said the jail was not bad, but very regimented
For the amount he had, i imagine getting caught with a few vals would not be jail time

Ok, Egypt is not a good country to visit with tramadol and naproxen. To be fair, the woman was carrying 290 tramadol and there's no mention of a doctor's prescription.

Laura Plummer from Hull was in possession of tramadol and naproxen when she was detained by Egyptian authorities.

Thanks for this thread. Something that hadn't ever even occurred to me. Valuable information (even if anecdotal) to keep track of for traveling.

Within 15 minutes of landing at Osaka I was collated and had my bags and person checked looking for drugs. Although this has all opened my eyes about travelling to different countries, especially from seeing so much about that lady from Hull in Egypt! Facing the death penalty...

Strange that,, cause I have had provironum , in a blister pack with about 6 pills left , taken off me in a search as I went through the oz airport. I was told it was illegal to bring medicines back to Australia unless I was carrying a script to prove they were mine. I asked about the other 320 Asians on the plane carrying contraceptive pills ,and all the other medicines they carry. No answer . Every 6 months when I return to OZ,,, EVERY TIME, yes , every time I am the only one that is pulled out of the line of 320 passengers and searched, yet I always travel with only a small backpack with nothing in it except a spare pair of underpants.

And NO , I don't have or have never had any criminal convictions, and my dress code is A1.

Iv'e been backpacking asia for over a year inc Oz & of the 3 people that were searched each had no checked baggage
only having 1 carry on bag must make you stand out more or match some profile of sorts only they understand

solution/advice
always take the pills OUT of the blister pack ( can see on xray) and put them in a aspirin bottle.
