Camper project

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

What happens when you reach a town and want to go out for dinner or to a bar for a few beers? Or a busy marker to but some provisions. Do you tow your house with you everywhere you go? If you unhitch and just use the bike for an evening outing, what's to stop the locals from towing it away and having a ready made granny annex to their homes?

Anything novel attracts curious attention and some of that will be the wrong type.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m sure that Andy’s proposed camper will be integrated into a trike, so the ‘accommodation’ part cannot be unhitched. It’ll be just like the many other heavier duty trikes with box containers mounted on them (the vehicle used by the Belgian baker’s in Kampot springs to mind)

Well, that's the main idea Doc67 to reach each destination independently and as safely as possible. But also having the option and opportunity to stop when you wish to do so.

Imagine waking up to a view like this, and can you smell the bacon and eggs cooking in the pan :D

It's the water tank for the engine cooling system, on the other side is a safe-box.
The engine has a 5-speed gearbox and reverse gear too, plus an overdrive.

and monkeys running off with your washing...

I'm joking, I sort of get it, it's an out-doorsy thing, just stop and plot up and the next day move on.

Good luck to you mate, I look forward to watching your progress.

Carry a bicycle?? or one of those small motos (50cc??) that look like an oversize scooter.

I'm actually interested in this but from a purely mechanical perspective.
Design and construction for something like this would really peek my interest as there is plenty of scope for some interesting/novel problems that would be fun to solve.

Alas, I have negative free time right now but do keep us posted of your progress and problems.

Or just a simple electric scooter -

There are endless possibilities, but this leads me to another question. I would like to run a fan and recharge my phone and tablet. I know all this is possible by checking into any local hotel on the foreseen journeys. But what is the best way to do this on the camper? What is available in Cambodia to give you this option?

You could run the fan and recharge your devices by carrying a 12 volt car battery and some adapters with you. Probably last forever until you'd have to charge it again.
